No swallows around here. But this week, at the bird feeders, I saw finches, juncos, jays, starlings, a hummingbird, and a woodpecker.

Pigeons, ducks and seagulls here. All outside my living room window (it overlooks a canal).

We have magpies here too but they are a much different bird to the original English Magpie. Australian magpies, while having distinctive black and white colouring, are quite a bit larger, a bit smaller than a raven, and very territorial during breeding season. They have a habit of divebombing anyone near their nests and as a child I suffered a bleeding scalp more than once. Nevertheless I like seeing them around and they have a beautiful song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYEYc8Ge3nw

I used to draw a mini-comic (we traded them by mail pre-internet) starring a cartoon tern. I recently saw someone trying to sell one of those comics on ebay for... uh, let's just say no one's heard of me or ever will. I sense the seller is doomed to disappointment.

No one ever figured out what kind of bird Woodstock was. I doubt even Charles Schulz knew for sure.

If you use the same costume, you can easily replace your sidekick bird. Just ask Robin.

One of the weirdest sidekicks was Sherman from the Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoon show.
Mr. Peabody -- a dog -- owned HIM, a human boy, as a PET.

James Sherman is one of a number of artists I'd have liked to have seen more work of.

Having grown up with comic books, I find that I like "classical" art better. Abstract does not do it for me.

Bill Sienkiewicz combined classical with abstract on the 1980s New Mutants stories ("Demon Bear" et al) he did with Chris Claremont.

Sienkiewicz is pronounced "sin-KEV-itch."
I learned that only a few months ago, from my hero Steve Bissette.
