Very upbeat ending, but it did feel like a lot was crammed in to bring everybody together and we didn't get any answers, just more questions. This makes me hope it continues as well, the Great Darkness is still out there.
One of the coolest bits was Triplicate Girl in black, which somebody here suggested that would be the result when her three colours combined.
Holy Cats of Egypt!

Thanks for the spoilers re Gold Lantern, EDE. Sigh. seems like it raised more questions than answers. I think it's an OK twist, but... why not just give the whole origin already?!

Maybe he's the Time Trapper and this whole thing is yet another pocket universe he's created to torment the Legion.
Or maybe I'm in Hell.

Thanks for the spoilers re Gold Lantern, EDE. Sigh. seems like it raised more questions than answers. I think it's an OK twist, but... why not just give the whole origin already?! I think we'll learn that it's an origin that's so awesome, that health officials demanded it be spread across multiple issues. The actual subplot is going along fine now, and promises to develop into something major later on.

Yeah, despite all the joking about Gold Lantern, that subplot was probably the most interesting bit in #12.

I agree it seemed rushed and a quick clean up of many plot points. I hope this is not the end because I feel the story was picking up steam the last few issues and we were starting to get to know these characters. I mean we haven?t yet even heard a peep out of Sunboy or Starboy and others It seems with Bendis being yanked off the Superman family books so suddenly has impacted the Legion. It?s a shame that this much effort was placed in building this up just to end it suddenly. Although it?s happened to the Legion previously

So..... regarding this hopefully last issue of this poorly conceived Legion:
1) Still shaking my head trying to make sense of what I just read. Twice.
2) Bendis must NOT be allowed to ever write Legion stories again after this so-called Future State realignment. EVER!
3) Who else thought that White Witch and Dream Girl looked like the artist sketch pre-work scribblings next to the fully drawn and colored in Saturn Girl? Btw, what the hell was that coming together scene with the three ladies supposed to do anyway? " ... we practised this in the Computo simulator ..." huh? Practised what exactly?? Lazy writing. Lazy, lazy artwork. Quite disappointing given that this was the last issue of this version. Which brings me to my next problem ...... 4) Sook is great at drawing figures in still motion. Once he starts drawing the figure in motion ( for example flying ) it becomes a blurry mess. Very first-year art student. Sorry but I'm being honest.
5) That last panel of all of them drinking and talking really bugged me. Dawny kissing Ultra Boy? Really? Bendis' last second cheap attempts at shock value tricks right to the end. *heavy sigh* Who else feels ripped off that they never got to know the new Princess Projectra, Sun Boy, Shrinking Violet? Just to name a few.
The whole thing gave me a massive headache. I'm so glad it's over.
Please, PLEASE, if anyone out there in DC land is reading this, please bring back a version of the Legion that the fans recognize. Also, please don't muck around with their back stories too much. They are just fine the way they are (Golden, Silver age I mean).
I hope I never see any of these Bendis/Sook Legionnaires in a new story again, except maybe in a passing reference.
Oh and I never thought I would say this about a Legion comic, but I am actually terrified to read next week's Legion Future State part one!
In the present

The secret of Gold Lantern's origin is etched on Mordru's lung, and only X-Ray Girl can reveal it!

Random thought: So, since Jon and Mon-El have apparently have powers on New Krypton, then shouldn't all of the inhabitants? Do we see any of the other Kryptonians in the battle? And isn't attacking a planet full of powered Kryptonians about the dumbest thing anyone could do?

I wondered about that, but assumed that, as Ivwasn't reading any Super-books, there was a reason I didn't know about. He'd been planning it for a long time, but might not have thought to ask anyone if it was a really stupid idea.

At least some of the other Kryptonians appear to have powers as we see them flying in #10 and at least one helping with the reconstruction after the battle in #12, so presumably all the Kryptonians have powers. Some of the scenes show non-humanoid characters so perhaps there are non-Kryptonians as well, but it is certainly implied that there are a significant number of Kryptonians. We don't see any in the fight. The closest is Zod (who is not General Zod but his son) showing an angry face to Rogol Zarr at the start of #11 just before he gets whalloped. On the last page of #11 amongst all the KOed Legionnaires is someone who appears to be in Kryptonian costume (background middle right) which could again be Zod but it is too small to be sure. So no we don't see them in the fight. Here are some reasons why that MAY be ok. - Although Kryptonians have powers it doesn't mean that they have any experience with fighting, apart from Mon-El. How well would any of us do in a pitched battle if we had no training? - We also don't know if their powers are at Superman levels. Perhaps the solar radiation on New Krypton is enough to give them some strength etc but not as much as on Earth. Mon-El, having spent much time on New Earth and other worlds is still charged up. (All conjectural as how solar energy powers Kryptonians changes depending on the era/writers/editors etc.) - Kryptonians have reason to fear Rogol Zarr. Here we get in to spoiler territory for Superman titles. - Rogol Zarr is himself of Kryptonian origin, but nevertheless despises and seeks the extinction of all Kryptonians believing them to be a scourge on the galaxy (for unspecified reasons - "wait 'til you hear his story!") - He was created by Jor-El (yes Superman's father) to be a galactic enforcer/executioner when Jor-El was part of a council of half-a-dozen alien leaders (including an Oan) judging the galaxy - He has been shown to be more powerful than several fully powered Kryptonians fighting together - He caused the destruction of Krypton - He destroyed Kandor - His axe is a hugely powerful weapon (possibly partly sentient?) powered by hate (Supergirl had it for a time and struggled not to be overwhelmed by it) - In the 21st Century he was only defeated, after being weakened by kryptonite, by the combined force of Superman, Supergirl (who wielded his axe), Jon Kent, Krypto, General Zod with finishing touches by the elite Thanagarian Black Guard. (See Superman vol 5 #14 where the Legion first appears) When the Legion recovers in this issue and Gim throws him far away this makes sense as they have not really hurt him just knocked him off-balance. So while I agree that it might have made sense for some Kryptonians to join the battle I suppose it could be explained away and it would have taken the focus away from the Legion. This isn't like the Darkseid controlled Daxamites who tore through the galaxy. They were mind-controlled to fight whether they wanted to or not. For these Kryptonians who may feel themselves as lost exiles even after a thousand years, run away may seem to be the logical course of action. This is perhaps supported by Mon-El apparently being the only one to have left the planet and become a hero (despite his whining). Still I do feel like I am making excuses. As usual Bendis has hinted at much, even indicated things would be revealed, but still left plot points by the roadside leaving speculation as the only option.
