Probably a vital consideration for the presumed Brainy-head-on-a-hose character from Future State.

Weirdly, that was going to be my post. Looks like someone's been spending their lockdown on Titan.

If they are, they've probably had Catholic upbringings.
(I had a Catholic upbringing, so I can make jokes like that.)

So can I.
Catholic guilt is a new term I've encountered, and I can so relate to it.

On a lighter note, my favorite Bananarama song is "Love In the First Degree." That's the one that goes, "Guilty, guilty, guilty as a girl can be."

Many decades ago, admission to movie theaters was only a dime! And they had lots of goodies before the main feature -- a cartoon, a newsreel, a 15-minute comedy short...

I remember my parents telling me to pretend I was 7, instead of 8, so we could get a discount at the cinema...

Cahiers du Cinema is a long-running French movie journal that has been highly influential all over the world.

When I was in Barcelona as a student, we were making fun of the French students and the French stereotype that they love to complain. Someone suggested we buy snacks and recommended baguettes... I said, oh no, you'll trigger our French friends...
... and indeed one of them started ranting about the tasteless baguettes in Spain...

LOL Great story, Ibby.
I'm something of a bread obsessive, always on the lookout for the best bread, and I can vouch for the superiority of a properly-made baguette.

Thanks, Fanfie :-)
My boyfriend is also very picky about bread. For most things (peanut butter, milk, mustard) he doesn't care - but when it comes to bread it has to be white bread.
And I agree... the quality difference between a good baguette and a bad baguette is really stark.

Stark was the name of a Ben Elton novel combining environmental themes with a main plot thread from When Worlds Collide.

Eric John Stark is the hero of a number of awesome "sword and planet" romances by Leigh Brackett.

Brackett's The Long Tomorrow was enjoyable enough that I started looking out for others in the SF Masterworks series I hadn't read.
Having read her draft of the Empire Strikes Back, she gets some criticism from the likes of Lucas that smacks somewhere between jealousy and attempts to assign credit unduly elsewhere.
