"Stop the presses....who's that?" Sure is! (BTW, anyone thinking about Kim Basinger in Tim Burton's Batman, should know that the comic book version is--consistently, I think--a redhead. And Vicki has been a part of the bat-mythos since 1948.)

Vicki was on my mind as I just completed Vol. 3 of "Tales of the Batman: Gerry Conway". Conway's run was memorable on many levels, including his bringing Vicki back after she had been rarely seen since 1963. Up until then, she had been Bruce's primary love interest since her debut, serving a Lois-Lane-like role by constantly trying to prove Bruce was Batman, being "proven" wrong and then being back at it shortly after.
Conway's run featured a long subplot where Vicki felt she had photographic proof--she was primarily a photo-journalist--of Bruce being Batman. She held on to her evidence and went to Alfred to give him a chance to prove her wrong. The photos ended up in the wrong hands, but Alfred took a "chance" of a different sort to preserve Bruce's identity to Vicki and the bad guys. After that, Conway put her, Bruce and Selina into a love triangle that appeared to be going against Vicki at his run's end. From what I've seen, the subplot continued with Conway's successor Doug Moench in his original run on the character. I hope DC will collect that run soon!
I highly recommend Conway's run!

nice one! i had a hunch it would be someone tied to Batman, Bats had many more interests than even Supes did (Supes always ended up with Lana, Lois, Lori, and somewhat Lyna Lumai (I probably got the name wrong), but I know Bats had a few more - yet they also tended to be a bit more obscure, Catwoman excepted
