Fortunately, a few weeks ago I managed to secure a box of good-quality brownie mix -- just before the panic set in and the supermarket shelves were cleaned out.

Thanks, everybody! The cake this year is entirely ready-made, but that was so I could have time to make myself some yummy burritos! (I won't specify the filling, out of respect for my non-carnivore friends.) I got some nice presents by snail mail, including a hardcover book where Chris Ware looks back on his life and career. It's titled, quite pithily, "Monograph." Be back later. My DVD collection calls. Thanks again, all.
