I probably have some old ones I could ship to someone who needs "new" entertainment.

I picked up a few extra things last week, knowing it was likely to be the last for a while.

We had to close up the shop I work at until further notice. Hopefully we'll be OK in the meantime & I'll still have a job to go back to when this is all over. I'm worried about the economy in general here as many of the businesses rely heavily on the tourism industry.

there's growing awareness of the economic impact of the coronavirus - and the "stay at home" crowd is beginning to understand that some people will find it extremely difficult to stay at home without economic or financial considerations. hope things work out, AL.

Hugs from afar, plus mandated additional 2 metres, for everyone.

My shop offers a delivery service, so I was going to switch to that. With diamond in hiatus, there's no new comics from that source. Off to comixology I guess...

Well I had switched to Comixology awhile ago because I just had too much physical stuff, so this does not affect that.
In the last few weeks, I even started experimenting and picking up indies that had cool covers just to support those teams.

But this is disastrous to brick and mortar stores.
Most of whom were holding on by a very thin margin.

It definitely feels like a disaster.

My nearest store had just moved into a new premises at the end of last year, after decades of feeling that they had outgrown the old one. It's part of a chain, which might help, and they do online orders for existing stock. But there were a lot of familiar faces in there, and I hope I'll see them all back when this is over.

Ok... so basically DC, Marvel, Boom and Dynamite will not be issuing new books via Comixology either

Was that after a backlash on them not confirming digital non-sales as the same time as physical sales?

I picked up some bargains on Comixology. Weirdly, I also paid more for a normal issue than I would in my local shop. The bargains were mostly for trades I already have physical copies of, and a few I'd never seen physically and got the first of a series to try. I'd just got into the habit of buying the odd trade, so I'm loathe to buy something digitally, and then not bother getting it when the shop (hopefully) reopens.

I have so many comics that are waiting to be read, I might actually be able to get caught up.... (just trying to make lemonade when life gives you beets...)

Or I can get back to working on my Legion comic... decisions, decisions...

Is there a way of tactfully suggesting that you choose to do the thing that you enjoy most, but getting across a giant "legion comic" hint? smile

Looks as though they're keen to get the digital comics going, and the bricks and mortar programme is to go along with that.

So does anyone know why Comixology is not carrying DC's new books?

I just got the email that they're "available now" and it looks like they are. Maybe there was a delay in getting them up?

Ahhh cool
Thanks

I don't think they're listed under "new comics" for some reason (probably since Comixology has had them for some time) so I have to look them up individually

This may deserve a thread of its own, but DC pulls out of 25-year relationship with Diamond.

My instincts tell me this is a positive thing, but we'll see.

I think the new comic market has been disappointing for many of us these past few years (decades). I know that my own shopping habits have been greatly reduced - from picking up damn near everything DC and Marvel published in the 1990s to MAYBE 2-4 books a week.

The more I learn about the comic shop business, the more I am convinced that the model Diamond represents just doesn't work anymore.
