Which Golden Age character helped Jimmy Olsen, by lending him his super identity?

Nope. It's a DC character.

Drat.
For some reason I read that as "lending super DENSITY"....

Not turtle man. If I told you that you're not as far away as you might think, you'd possibly go in the wrong direction. So, I won't tell you that.

(We seem to have gotten a bit mixed up with a Jimmy Olsen question in the Legion trivia thread and a Legion question in the Teen Titans Trivia thread. No matter, all good fun and James was an honorary Legionnaire although not in the Golden Age.)

Not the Golden Age Flash. Nor is it Robin. Robin, like Turtle is along the right sort of lines. As stile said, as Jimmy is a honorary member, I consider him fair game for these questions. It's also a lot of fun to see what he was getting up to in those old stories. I have to mine 30 Titans issues for a question, while Jimmy delivers issue after issue

Neither Flash (it's not a speed themed character, in case that's where the Turtle thing was going) nor Fate
Not Vision, Turtle Man, Robin, Flash (any of 'em), Dr Fate

Not Arrow, Speedy or Fat Man. The closest guesses were the animal type answers.

Not Wildcat. Not a member of the JSA either. It's a character that's very DC in some ways.

Well, that takes out my next guess of Black Canary! And poor Jimmy really wanted to wear the fishnets...

That was the next issue, and the answer to my next Legion trivia question!
I'm off to check if you've been using the time bubbles again...

It's not Tarantula (good guess) because DC is all about the Gorillas!
EDE gets it right with Congorilla!
Jimmy and Congo Bill are friends. When the Jimmy Olsen Fan Club (really) gets wind of the Criminal Scientists Society's (really) Project Kryptonite, they contact him. Bill has a broken arm, so lends Jimmy his ring. Jimmy is Congorilla while he foils a plan to bring loads of different Kryptonite meteors to Earth. There was just loads of different varieties all hurtling around Earth. Jimmy's Congorilla footprints are discovered at the end leading to speculation about an African Abominable Snowman >chuckle<
Over to EDE!

It was the leading story, but they didn't put it on the cover. Had they done so, and had sales been significant, we might have seen a lot more of Congo Olsen. I wonder how many other Golden Age friends he has. Olsen could be the go to guy when the big name heroes are out of action. A time bubble appears in the warehouse district of Metropolis. An injured traveller stumbles from the craft, mumbling about a threat to time. On-the-spot Olsen knows just who to call, with the JLA being away on another mission...

I had a vague memory of JO borrowing Bill's ring at one point. It was a bit tricky as while Congo Bill definitely a Golden Age character, the "Congorilla" concept is pure Silver Age.
