Just to make sure: is the character native to Earth? Whoops I did get that mixed up didn't I. The character I am thinking IS apparently native to Earth but the hero they have the closest association with IS NOT native to Earth. Is your character the love interest of a super hero? Yes, at one stage at least.

- a female human being apparently native to Earth
- is not a considered a villain
- does not have powers beyond those of a normal human
- has never had her own comic series
- has no costumed identity
- debuted after Crisis on Infinite Earths but before Zero Hour
- appeared in North America
- is a reporter who does not work for the government (with one possible exception)
- has never been married to a super-hero but has been the love interest of a super-hero
- is not a relative of a super-hero
- is mostly associated with a specific super-hero who:
--- debuted prior to Crisis
--- is not a member of the Justice League, founding or otherwise
--- is not a Teen Titan
--- is not native to Earth but is from the Earth-1 universe
--- has been romantically involved with but not married to the character

Another clue: Along with the common questions about hero/villain, male/female, when debuted, there is one major common question that has not been asked yet which would significantly narrow down the options.
But cryptic but see if it helps.
