So far it reminds me of Genosha/Utopia arcs from the previews I have seen. Hickman said he is going to tight-lipped going forward so I guess we will have to read the books.

The main thing I remember is the Thanos/Inhumans relaunch a few years ago (Black Guard in the movies is from his run) and his work on the Fantastic Four. I also appreciate his banter with the fans.

He also is a vocal Legion of Super-Heroes fan, and many speculate that he based his Avengers run and line-up on the "Great Darkness Saga".

Picked up House of X form shelf. Opened and had to go through page after page of utter padding as they give a page for story title. More padding at the start of the story and after the first soundbite-in-place-of-dialogue I put it back on the shelf.

I’ve read it twice now and I still don’t know what to think. The new situation appears to be deliberately off-putting. I don’t think we are supposed to be comfortable with what Xavier and his followers are doing. And I’m not going to assume this is the new status quo; House of X could very well be the story of how this setup fails spectacularly, and the new line emerges from the rubble. I don’t think it’s likely, but it’s possible. There’s always a certain coldness to Hickman’s writing, and there’s certainly Something else cold and unsettling and compelling about this issue

I’m going to stick with it. We’ll see what’s what.

From what I saw, I got the feeling that Hickman is a lot more interested in the scenario and its locale (and the book padding) than in any empathy towards the cast. Resulting in the cast not having much empathy on display either.

I wish this wasn't going on simultaneously with Legion; as I already got DC Universe so it is easier for me to follow this relaunch.

What I have gathered from the previews and discussion on other sites is that things are not what they seem to be. However, we only got six issues in both series so I am not sure if all of our questions are going to be resolved. This is the build-up the books that will be relaunching after HoX and PoX is over.

The opening scene does suggest that Scott and Jean could be literal pod people. We are clearly supposed to be unsettled, which is why I will probably read the comic a third time tonight trying to wrap my head around it

Had some online discussions and read some reviews, and my experience seems to be virtually universal: unsettled, disturbed, but absolutely fascinated.

I have heard that there are accusations of plagiarism. Warning, this article contains spoilers for the latest issues of HoX/PoX: https://www.bleedingcool.com/2019/0...s-of-harry-august-claire-north-spoilers/

I am no legal expert, but I when I heard what power Hickman decided to give Moira, I immediately thought that it is not really a super-power. It is a plot device, sort of like how Layla Miller's "power" was just a way to reset the Marvel Universe after House of M.

I have to agree with Hickman. It sounds like one plot element in common, used in very different ways. And one that wasn’t original to her. But I think her reaction is probably in good faith, as she doesn’t seem to be angling for a lawsuit to snag Disney $$.

Obviously we’ll have to wait for the story to complete to finally judge, but I can’t imagine the final product will bear much resemblance outside of that one conceit.

Even though I'm not following Hickman's X-Men, the discussions have intrigued me enough to do some research. I found this very good -- and very SPOILER-HEAVY -- review, which among other things sums up the main problem I have with Hickman's work in general:

I think that’s a fair review of the good and bad. I do feel the coldness is deliberate in these early issues as he’s not only trying to break new ground, but shatter the comfort of nostalgia and tradition to turn the book into something genuinely unsettling and “outsider.” The early issues are making us look at mutants through the non-mutant lens. I hope we’ll wind up in some sort of middle ground by the time the ongoing launch.

There is news that Marvel is interested in the Starjammers and Imperial Guard. I hope we get an Imperial Guard book written by Hickman.

Ugh. Gave this a solid chance. Not for me. Feels like another overreach that may have sounded good on paper but should never had made it past the original meeting.

Now entering Year 22 of shit X-Men stories.

It has me hooked even though the setting doesn't appeal. However, as pointed out above, I don't think it is meant to.

The one thing I wonder about is ----SPOILERS---
which life of Moira's represents the reality we are used to? It could be the tenth life which seems to be the life portrayed in this mini series and the timeline events match our known past history. Someone else suggested it was the mysteriously skipped sixth life. Whichever, I cannot see the reality of the mini-series remaining as the ongoing one, particularly since several major characters were just killed, so I expect some sort of reset (Moira's last life?) towards the end.

I think we are supposed to have been in the 10th life all along. Although there was one early life that seems to look the same, except that Moira kept her secrets to herself. I think that was maybe to preserve the old continuity as much as possible, except for Moira’s inner life. So people can imagine everything prior was set in either of those lifetimes.

I am afraid the covers and solicits are taking away from Hickman's careful plotting. Sure enough,
It is Mr.Sinister as it implies on the cover!

Sooooooo House of X is done. Powers of X still closing up.

Definitely a new status quo for mutants. It's interesting to watch the excitement in the comics shop about it. I haven't seen this kind of excitement in awhile (I'm in the shops for the Legion stuff now).

I dig the new take on Moira. I'm not so sure about the
resurrection
team - it does make a certain sense, considering how often X
deaths
occur. It's nice to see people like
Skin
and
Banshee
back.

I can't believe one of the new X-books is gonna feature Nanny and Orphanmaker in the cast, they're two of my favorite X-villains.

The new X-MEN LEGENDS is off to a kick-ass 90's flashback start with #1... We finally get confirmation that Adam the X-treme was the intended 3rd Summers brother. Is Vulcan a Summers??? I take it this title is intended to be out-of-continuity, then?? I still am looking forward to this arc, and the Simonsons X-Factor in the next one. Keep your Hickmess.

Merry Hickmess can be used to celebrate the start of the all too frequent relaunches.

I enjoyed the first issue very much as well. Fabian Nicieza doesn't miss a beat from where he left off in the mid-90s. He seems to be having fun, and it's just as much fun to read.

According to the backmatter on the last page, all stories in this series are in-continuity.

I certainly do concur with your opinion of the "Hickmess."

X-Men Legends #2 is, in my opinion, a more-than-decent wrap-up to the Adam-X story. Best of all...

...the last page leaves open the possibility of Fabian doing a present-day sequel.
