Skree was selected by the Red to approach the chosen champion and make him an avatar of the natural world and it's primal sense of justice, red in tooth and claw.

Unfortunately, the scared-out-of-his-mind young Bruce Wayne panicked and brained Skree with a fallen board before the Red could warm up to its offer, and so Batman became the first 'superhero' on the Justice League to have no superpowers as he accidentally straight-up murderered his 'origin story.'

The Red chalked it up to a learning moment and resolved to pick a sturdier avatar, next time.

There is no bat. Bruce is easily alarmed by Alfred's shadow animals.

The bat's name is actually Skip. Skip went out on a bender with his bros, Todd, Rafe and Trevor, and crashed thru Bruce's picture window on the way to the next bar.

"My bad, bro," said Skip. But Bruce didn't speak bat (at the time) and took Skip's crash as a dark omen.

Skip totally should have been arrested and charged with FUI. This would be the first in string of incidents that fed Skip's sense of entitlement.

Now, Skip is President of Bat Country, and most bats hate the shit out of him!
