37. IMPULSE. Bart's face!
38. WOLFF & BYRD. The background/tablecloth!
39. UNWRITTEN. Just because! I have a lot to catch up on and I'm not gonna spent any more time on this one!
40. SECRET ROMANCE. Because BS is that crummy Ajax art!
41. THE AVENGERS. I don't know what that brown thing on FP is!
42. ALL-FLASH. Golden Age Nuttiness!
43. THE SPIRIT. It's a little different!
44. SHAZAM. Bronze Age nuttiness!
45. WEIRD MYSTERY. Although ElfQuest has an interesting weirdness!
46. ATARI FORCE Better color story!
47.ALL-STAR SQUADRON. Default vote, something about Outsiders seems wrong!
48. ASTRO CITY. Movement!

49. FF. it's yet another issue where Susan is the trophy of some creep. But it has time travel and art coolness. Look at those defeated shoulders. The FF look to be bursting into someone else's annual. A bit more front and centre Skrull would have fitted the title more.
50. Legionaires. Because the Controller's first person shooter hand looks like he's a magician entertaining a kids party. I expect balloon animals of Streaky and Krypto.
51. Silk. The logo being the flag as well as the lovely blue sky and the boids gets the win. I do like the alien chalk outline though.
52. Moon Girl. Supergirl is oblivious to some creep peeking up her costume. I look forward to Girl Moon eradicating crime...along with all life on Earth in her debut issue.

49. FF Annual - it's a bit messy, but for a double-size annual, promises a lot of action and characters. Possibly, I'm just tired of ancient Egyptians in superhero stories.
50. Legionnaires - dynamic
51. Silk - beautiful pose, logo, blue sky with birds
52. Moon Girl - for the freaky happy dinosaur.

53. She Hulk. A bit of a default win. At least there's some context in it. And an in gag if you follow the Hulk.
54. Tom Strong. The modern colouring and all that detail. I think Strong is sitting at too much of an angle, so it loses points there.
55. Avengers (1999). While the Cap Marvel one is very nice. that issue of Avengers is simple in its elegant presentation of a evil finale.
56. Buzzy. He's in trouble trying to impress. Secrets has the more detailed art, that I'd prefer usually. But it's too creepy.

53. REBELS - more menacing.
54. Tom Strong - better colours (that brown sky on Wings - ugh!) and a nice sense of flight/escape.
55. Infinity - hot fire image, great lighting; I'm not even sure what I'm looking at on Avengers.
56. Diary Secrets - just more to look at and I like the bored woman at the ball game.

57. Willie. A title that would be banned here. 58. Starbrand. A nicer icon. Even if the other one offers a story hint. 59. Spiderman. This is a job for... a brickie... to fix that wall! 60. Ms Marvel. Less stabby and possibly more fun.

49. FF ANNUAL. Nice depth, and the white frame makes it look even more sharp.
50. LEGIONNAIRES. Nah to LSH.
51. SLSH. This one was hard. Silk is very appealing (cosign Thothy especially about the flag-logo) but SLSH's MOOD takes it.
52. SUPERGIRL. Aw man! MG + DD is great. MG and GM and DIVO DINO are all very appealing. But I gotta give it to Kara's expression and how she's coming right TO you. (Supergirl is Kara, right? I'm a few dozen behind on my reboots.)
53. SHE-HULK.
54. WINGS COMICS. Yes the coloring is weird. Yes I like it anyway.
55. AVENGERS (1999) Simple + sharp. The other one is strong competition. Is that a Binary callback?
56. DIARY SECRETS. MATT BAKER!! Not a punchline. D R A M A
57. WILLIE.
58. STAR BRAND. The colorful galaxy!
59. ASM ANNUAL. Good color, fun nods comicbookdom that even nonreaders could probably appreciate, and that white frame again.
60. SPIDER-GWEN. MM is fading out, which may be accurate for the title, but -- nah I'll take Gwen's sharpness.

61. New Teen Titans. I'm not too keen on the colouring, but Perez gets points for making the effort with the reflections. Not to mention coming up with an interesting perspective. That was when the team was falling apart, presumably with much sobbing. The JLI one had a companion cover either in the issue before or after. The cover was possibly the high point as the series was declining for me.
62. JLA. You have the greatest heroes going off into exile, with some shoulders slumped and heads bowed (also allowing for a team shot in the process). Then you have the shock of the people of Earth thinking that the heroes were betraying them. On top of that, some of those civilians are the secret IDs of the heroes! As is that wasn't enough there's a nice city backdrop and a classic rocket ship. Misery is Space takes the trian robberies into a new age, but they've probably taken a little too much into the future. This might have been a Knights of the Galaxy story. They were also in the 30th century of DCU.
63. Poe. Sure MAD is probably the funnier, but for the visuals alone it doesn't get the win. Besides, I might have voted for something similar in the past.
64. Legion. Tricky one to pick. Neither tells me much about the story inside. Deadpool's memories are matched by the story title on Legion. Brainy gets some advanced tech, which will no doubt need updated on a Legion cover 20 years from now (as there will be one). Deadpool might be the more interesting art wise to look inside at.

57. Willie - Suggestion of early gay interest
58. Guardians - appealing grayscale & interesting combination of symbols but can't say I really like either
59. Amazing Spider-Man - the old rip-open-the-shirt image, but the blast and her face are good
60. Ms. Marvel - no particular reason. I think I prefer the image of Spider Gwen herself, but the little ninjas and hands don't work for me.
61. Justice League - facial expressions
62. Mystery in Space - riding rockets and fighting Mayavale-style space trains! JLA loses points because Wonder Woman is the only one crying.
63. Mad - well, I'm a fan of the old Mad Magazine and this cover does look like it was cooked up by the usual gang of idiots. True to type, pre-Alfred E. Neuman days. Poe is not bad, though. Like the cartoony style and well laid-out.
64. Legion - futuristic as it should be. We've had a lot of covers with little images of all the players.

61. Teen Titans. This was an issue where the cover was WAY better than the interiors. The melodrama at this moment was pretty high. BUT this cover is provocative and made me curious about what was inside. The Justice League was just - at the time - more of the same.
62. Justice League - Clear shot of the team, defeated and being protested by the Earth. And I like the lavender bridge they walk across to the rocket.
63. Poe. The Mad image looks like the side of a soup can to me. And I never read those.
64. Legion. I loved this series of covers.

65. Zero Zero. Lots of plot possibilities (plotibilities?) Who knows if Tigorr (clearly a Tigger/ Wolverine crossover) will even wake up? I'm reminded of the JLA trying to get catch the Atom's attention.
66. Young All Stars. I don't really care for either. But the darker toned colouring gets the win, suggesting a darker tone of plot.
67. Maze Agency. Despite the really good artists, both are basically group shots. I prefer the more natural Maze Agency perhaps getting their picture taken for a company promo or an article. In the background The Shadow Thief meets his end, getting bonus crossover points.
68. The Witching Hour. Crumbs, Nurse Crane. Stop shouting "Think!" at the poor guy. No wonder he has a headache. Ove in the Witching Hour, the lady discovers that it *is* her father knocking. And her father is the Floronic Man in the form of the tree.
That perfect moment of sychnronicity with Nighty last round is gone now. Sychnronicity. Was it only a Police album after all? We await Andy's results...

65. Zero Zero. While I did follow the Omega Men, this was the start of the bad stories (IMO). I agree with Thoth that there seems to be more possibilities in Zero Zero. Why are there 2 zeroes? Is he the Zero? Or the other Zero? Or did the Zeroes get him? He looks like he needs a beer.
66. Young All Stars. While this was a terrible story (Vril!), I am into the cover artist (even if the proportions are way off here and a little clunky). I like the attempt at moody.
67. Maze Agency. This was a comic I loved at the time. Murder mysteries galore. The Extreme X era was pretty bad to me.
68. Nurse Betsy Crane. I want to know the secrets of the manor.

61. JLI. Color thing.
62. MYSTERY IN SPACE.. Starfield. Curve.
63. MAD. Mad, I say!
64. THE LEGION. I didn't like all those computer-generated ones, but this is fitting. And sharp.
65. ZERO ZERO. Nothing new about the general idea, it's all in the execution. And the background color!
66. I wouldn't pick up either one. YOUNG ALL-STARS gets the nod because I am always amused by Peebs's Paula Brooks fanboyism, so Tigress marches to the win.
67. X-TREME X-MEN. I prefer the people on TMA, but the other elements (like the lamp at front) pull focus all over the place. I like the X-men just hanging out (even in uniform) but wish the background color gave more contrast.
68. THE WITCHING HOUR. Bright center figure in the dark and the shutter shadows!
