Seriously, I dug out Baxter Titans issues 7, 8, and 9 last night, and the Thia/Lilith/Azrael storyline is kinda like the "Call of the Primitives" episode of "Transformers" -- it's so gorgeous to look at, I find myself not caring about anything else.
JLG-L seemed to really be having fun doing that arc.
Also, I have to mention the coloring by the late, great Adrienne Roy. It probably won't convert a lot of people who think that Baxter books were too garish-looking, but I think that if you compare Adrienne's work there to just about any other DC Baxter book at the time, you'll be rewarded with a lot of surprising subtlety and nuance, which makes JLG-L's art two thousand times more awesome!

^ I'm a big Adrienne Roy fan. Her husband (also a colorist) is a member of a Facebook group dedicated to old comics that I'm in, and whenever someone posts about an old comic they love, he often points out that it was colored by Adrienne. She colored some of DC's best comics in the '70s and '80s.

That's awesome. Thanks for sharing that, Blacula. Yeah, with NTT and BATO and the Batman flagship books, Adrienne pretty much defined the look of one particular area of the DCU for a good long time. And we are all very fortunate she did!

Kudos to the artist, for making Azrael look pretty even while he was whining his heart out. Almost made me not want to punch him in the face

Ibby, ROTFLMAO. Azrael didn't deserve Adrienne and Jose Luis. Some characters have all the luck. Thia sure deserved the artists, though, despite being completely and utterly evil (or maybe BECAUSE of that -- its what worthwhile villainesses do!)

Thia, though reprehensible, fulfilled her role as villain smashingly. She was elegantly evil. Azrael, though created to be weepy and annoying, fulfilled his role TOO well I'm happy because I got to see Kole brought to life under the amazing art of Adrienne and Jose Luis. Hmm, not the best choice of words, considering what would happen to her in COIE...

Re-read it again recently, after a brief discussion about those issues with Rick and Thoth in the Legion forum. I stand by everything I've said before in this thread.
