Ah, if I remember correctly, the kango-broncs in the race had anti-telepathy helmets. Saturn Girl's task was to win the race, so she used her telepathy on the mates...

I don't recall the lightning beasts ever being in a race, though.

I don't recall any racing of them either, I think thoth may be conflating them with some other scene.

LIUL didn't have to look far. It was in the same issue as the kanga broncs. I was thinking of the dinosaur throwing contest. The dinos are thrown, and not raced, using magnetic gloves. The dinos also have naturally occurring buzzsaw blades attached to their heads. It's odd but I can't think about it now. My swordfish, with it's chainsaw bladed bill, is helping me with some shelving.
