Luke's arc was also the part of the film I liked best, for the reasons you outlined, HWW.

Yeah, it's not necessarily what I would've done with the character, but it was well-done.

I'm glad you liked it, Huey! There's been so much negative backlash toward it that I sometimes think I'm just some hippy fringe dude!
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

I would happily cop to being a hippy fringe dude, Lardy. I read the reviews on this thread, and I think I understand where people are coming from. The Last Jedi is not The Big Victory people might have hoped for, but, in an era when every blockbuster tries to deliver The Big Victory, it was great to see Star Wars take a different approach.

My granddaughter took me to see Last Jedi for The Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Junior, ThD Day.
bona fides: I was thirty-two when the first Star Wars movie, now titled "A New Hope", was released.
I especially liked last the Kylo-Ren-Luke-Skywalker battle, especially how the audience is telegraphed so many clued that something is not right, which makes you realize what a bad Villian Kylo Ren is for not noticing.
I think that ultimately Rose is right, at least here in real life.
(non sequiter: What we want most for ourselves is independence, what we want most for our loved ones is safety. Is it wrong to sacrifice a small amount of safety for our loved ones, so that they might have a little more indepencence?)
Next time we have a DC/Marvel crossover, I want it to take place in the Hostessverse

Captain Phasma fans (i.e. Fickles) take note: She'll be featured in the New Star Wars Animated Series.

The article says Gwen will do her voice! (Oscar Isaac will also voice Poe!)

I know this is an old dead chat, but I felt like putting my two cents in. I enjoyed the characters the Last Jedi portrayed, I loved the introduction of Rose and I enjoyed the big battle Rey and Kylo have at the end, but I feel that you can tell it has a completely different director and direction than TFA. Also half of what came out of Luke?s mouth felt horrible and un-starwarsy. But there were many concepts I did enjoy and wanted to fix myself. From its release in 2017 to the summer of 2020 I worked on re-writing the whole thing. I ended up writing 38 chapters not counting prologues and wrote about half a million words. I used the novelization as a reference and started off with just small changes but by chapter 6 it was more and more my original plot. I know this is a Legion page but I thought I?d leave here the link to the story encase anyone is interested: https://www.wattpad.com/story/142338307-star-wars-the-last-jedi-re-write
