The winner of the poll is the Towers game! So, I will create two lists of characters that will do battle with each other here in this part of Spaceopoly.
Example: Superman vs. Batman Flash vs. Green Lantern
I will probably use a randomizer to make things more interesting. If too many battles are clearly uneven, I will rearrange them to be more fair. Would you guys have a preference for teams or fights? Otherwise, I will do a Marvel vs. DC heroes game.
It was easy to create the lists, though they might be shorter than what we are used to in Idols. I decided to stick with mostly Justice League and Avengers, as those two teams line up nicely. I capped the limit of heroes to 52 each, as some are obscure and many have the same name as another character. I will add more characters if one side has ten or less in the game. We will figure out the details of choosing more characters if/when it becomes an issue. If you are unfamilar with a character, both DC and Marvel have guides available online. I find Marvel's site to be slightly more useful because they have statistics for all their characters.

Some real toughies there. Firestorm v Mister Fantastic was the toughest. But Barda v Strange; Shazam v Dr Strange, Dr Light v Valkryie and Palmer v Panther were the ones I had to think through too.
As for Super vs Thor (what a draw), I'm reminded of the JLA vs Avengers mini. I thought it was odd that Supes would come out on top in that one. Back when it was a pre Crisis idea, and Supes was moving planets around, then fine. But it was post Crisis Supes. While he had been depowered and was sniffling his way through issues, Thor was being reminded that he'd outlive everyone of his teammates over in the Avengers series.

I plan to write match commentaries on these along with the results. I loved the old (now defunct) CBUB fights and want to try to get the same level of energy.

I think what Busiek was saying (to the chagrin of Marvel fans on the internet, as this image will be shared in perpetuity), is that even at reduced Post-Crisis levels, Superman's power levels are still higher or comparable to Marvel's higher end.
I remember Supes (and some other JLA members, if I remember right) making a similar observation on another page in that mini - DC heroes tended to be a bit more powerful than their Marvel counterparts.
To the best of my knowledge, DC has never released official statistics of their characters the way Marvel has. But if we were to go by feats, yes, in general, DC super-heroes are more powerful. There is a huge chunk of characters that have what I call the "Superman powerset". Like Busiek said, that easily puts Superman in what Marvel would call the deities category. One might even argue Sky-Father level since he beat Thor.

There was a panel late in the mini when the Wasp cheers that Captain America gets to lead the combined forces. Finally, there was something that went their way. I'm not sure that early post crisis Supes would have really stopped Thor. That was probably the last Supes I read at any length. So, his power levels probably crept back up again. I'd still fancy Thor to beat Doomsday though.
As for stats, the RPGs are good for that sort of thing. Even if there's not an official crossover, there's enough description in the categories so that you can move characters between systems.

Re Cap leading the combined teams, that was a good scene where the League recognizes Cap's leadership abilities.
I also got a chuckle out of the Avengers marveling at how easy it was to coordinate with J'Onns's telepathy - then began to wonder why it felt so new to them. I mean, they have telepaths in the Marvel U too. Granted, 99% of them seem to be X-Men, but the Avengers have worked with them before... and they had Moondragon...
Yeah, but with Moondragon you keep getting random "My telepathy is wasted on these fools" and "My costume looks so much better, but then I [iam[/I] so much better" thoughts mixed in with it.
