^^Glad to learn that, Drake. CHVRCHES have gotten even more delightful over time.

Paint It, Black turned 50 yesterday. I turned 50 today. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Another Rock 'n' Roll milestone: The Beach Boys' landmark Pet Sounds album turns 50 this month. The NPR program Sound Opinions had a special report on it today.

Omg, other Chvrches fans! I first heard The Mother We Share in Forza Horizon 2 and it just works so well as a kind of youthful adventure/summer abroad song (heck, a lot of their songs do vibe that really well). Been really into them ever since.

While I don't think they're a good fit for the franchise, nor is this song, I also like the theme they did for Mirror's Edge Catalyst that came out a few weeks ago:

I heard it in a hipster restaurant the other day and I instantly thought "one of you is either a Mirror's Edge or Chvrches fan!" smile

Been listening to this song a lot lately, almost entirely for the chorus my Montaigne since I'm not a big rap fan.

Of all of them, this is my favorite thread by Lasher. His energy was just phenomenal.

This being All Hallow's Eve, I felt obligated to post something scary. So many choices, so many choices... but Tom Lehrer will do.

I could add another song, but I feel like Klar's suggestion is still timely. [ahem]

Well, if you insist. Any Zoot Sims I'm playing is probably my favorite thing at that moment. I can't remember if I posted this before, so I'll risk it:

It's been a pretty quiet Thanksgiving evening so it left me pondering what I would consider my top 10 favorite songs of all time. It took some thinking, but I narrowed it down pretty close. Order is pretty interchangeable.

1. Commodify Your Dissent - The Dead Milkmen
2. Little Green Bag - George Baker Selection
3. Mrs. Robinson - Simon and Garfunkel
4. Take Me Home Tonight - Eddie Money
5. Cayucos - Cayucas
6. Fly Me to the Moon - Julie London
7. Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You - Frankie Valli
8. Happy Hour - The Housemartins
9. Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now - The Smiths
10. Story of My Life - Social Distortion

I have actually not heard anything else by him, but Blue on Black is just amazing. I love the blues-y feel to it, even tho' I'm hardly a blues guy.

And a favorite song with that sadly underused instrument these days, the saxophone!

I Still Believe, Tim Cappello

I saw the movie this song was in, The Lost Boys, at the theater *six times.* I may have had a slight vampire obsession. Thankfully it ended before the Twilight movies came out, which, I'm proud to say, I still haven't seen. smile

Oh look, another song from another *amazing* movie soundtrack (Eddie & the Cruisers) full of good songs, with a (sadly much shorter) saxophone solo!

Tender Years, John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band

Just because I referenced it in the Shout Box: (R.I.P. Grant Hart, 1961-2017)

I never actually knew much about Husker Du. Not my style of music even in my college years, but I was familiar with this gem because of Marshall Crenshaw's cover. So there you are. A person's gotta' step out of their comfort zone sometimes.
