Wow, at the rate we are going, I might have to move up the Spider-Villain Idol to November! We might be finished before October (I like to give at least 1 month between Idols).
1. (Justice Society) Mister Terrific (Michael Holt) 2. (Justice Society) Hawkgirl (Kendra Saunders) 3. (Freedom Fighters) Plastic Man 4. (Justice Society) Spectre (Jim Corrigan) 5. (Justice Society) Stargirl 6. (Justice Society) Cyclone 7. (Justice Society) Power Girl
Plastic Man is the last non-DC creation on the list. I encourage everyone to take a look at Golden Age Plastic Man art, it is extraordinary.

We should be finished in two weeks. We will only have 3-5 more rounds from here - I'm still deciding how many, exactly.
I would be interested in seeing what Golden Age Plastic Man is like. I recall he also had a cartoon some time back.

Now that I'm thinking about, I'm making a lot of choices based on artists or writers. Do you think, maybe next year, we could do a artist or writers Idol? Or would it be pointless because Kirby/Lee or Clarmont/Byrne would probably win (this is what I assume)?

I'd be interested to play in an artist/writer Idol (I think someone else suggested this during JLA Idol). But I wouldn't be interested to run it. I don't know that many creators, or even if I know them I'm not that familiar with the work of most of them.

ROUND 7 RESULTS!
Some interesting shifts in the rankings here, as voters are forced to choose among characters for vital spots on the list. Who goes home?
(Justice Society) Huntress (Helena Wayne of Earth-2) - 472 (Justice Society) Robin (Dick Grayson of Earth-2) - 390 (Justice Society) Mister Terrific (Michael Holt) - 264 (Justice Society) Doctor Fate (Kent Nelson) - 253 (Justice Society) Red Tornado (Ma Hunkle) - 240 (Justice Society) Green Lantern (Alan Scott) - 206 (Justice Society) Flash (Jay Garrick) - 181 (Justice Society) Cyclone - 172 (SSoV) Shining Knight (Ystina) - 160 (Justice Society) Power Girl - 158
and going home today...
(Justice Society) Hawkgirl (Kendra Saunders) - 131 (Justice Society) Spectre (Jim Corrigan) - 124 (Freedom Fighters) Plastic Man - 114 (Justice Society) Stargirl - 57 (Justice Society) Hourman (Rex Tyler) - 30
Kendra was doing reasonably well in earlier rounds, but her points were coming mainly from 2 voters - not enough to stay in the game.
Rex Tyler becomes our next founder casualty.
Stargirl and Spectre came back last round only to exit this round! On the other hand, Robin made the most of his return to land in 2nd place this round!
First is still Huntress, who is making her dad proud. She is really dominating.
And Plastic Man exits as well. I always associated him with the JLA, and not the Freedom Fighters - though I was aware he fought in WWII.

Round 8 Begins!Congratulations to our Top 10! Now... let's go down to 7! Pick 5 characters from the list and rank them 1-5. Points will be given as follows: Rank Points 1 - 90 2 - 40 3 - 15 4 - 5 5 - 1 House Rules1) Each round will last about 48 hours. I will try to end each round at the same time, but this won't always be possible because of work. 2) I'll vote at the start of every round to minimize bias on my part. 3) I don't encourage editing of votes; it's a smart tactic but may be unfair for those who don't get to log on as often. However, I won't disallow them either. I'll only tally votes at the end of each round (to make it easier on myself!). I'll post on this thread the minute I start tallying to alert everyone; votes that come in after that will be ignored. 4) In case of errors in the results, I'll post a correction immediately. If anyone's vote was affected by the error, that poster will be notified by PM immediately. If the poster cannot correct his/her votes before the end of the round, he/she will get a makeup point next round - a +15 bonus. This only applies to instances where I made the error, and not where the poster made an error. 5) Points will be given based on your ranking. The higher you rank a character on your list, the more points that character will get (e.g. Rank 1 gets 10 points, Rank 2 gets 9 points...) Point distributions will change per round. If characters tie, the tie will be broken by considering the total number of points characters have gotten in previous rounds. 6) Exception to the above will be the first 1-2 rounds of the game, which trim the list down considerably. Each vote will count as one point, and characters below a certain point threshold get eliminated. 7) Because several characters have the same code name, and because the list includes multiple realities, PLEASE SPECIFY which character you are voting for. In fact, as much as possible PLEASE use the exact name that I have used on the list (this will make it easier for me to tally votes using Microsoft Excel!)I won't make assumptions for votes which don't identify the character clearly. Example, if you vote for: 1) Doctor Fate 2) Cyclone 3) Star-spangled Kid 4) Green Lantern (TV: Brave and the Bold) I'll only count the votes for Cyclone and Green Lantern. I have no way of knowing if you're voting for Dr. Fate Kent Nelson vs. Dr. Fate Kent V. Nelson, or whether you're voting for Star-spangled Kid Sly Pemberton, or Courtney Whitmore (she briefly used that name)! Teams still represented:Justice Society of AmericaSSoV / Seven Soldiers of VictoryI listed characters according to code name. When classifying them under the appropriate team, I started with the JSA - so if a character has ever been a JSA member, they are listed there. Besides Hector Hall as Dr. Fate and Silver Scarab, I only listed a "core" reality character under one team. So Al Rothstein is Atom-Smasher under JSA, and is not listed under Infinity Inc. as Nuklon. The Top 10!(Justice Society) Cyclone (Justice Society) Doctor Fate (Kent Nelson) (Justice Society) Flash (Jay Garrick) (Justice Society) Green Lantern (Alan Scott) (Justice Society) Huntress (Helena Wayne of Earth-2) (Justice Society) Mister Terrific (Michael Holt) (Justice Society) Power Girl (Justice Society) Red Tornado (Ma Hunkle) (Justice Society) Robin (Dick Grayson of Earth-2) (SSoV) Shining Knight (Ystina)

Our list is exactly 5 females and 5 males. A nice mix of eras represented as well, with two Earth-2 only characters and three "new blood" characters (Michael Holt, Cyclone, Ystina).
Pleasantly surprised to see Ma Hunkle and Cyclone still hanging on. I didn't think they would get this far.
Not surprised that Alan, Jay and Dr. Fate are the last founders remaining. They always seemed like the biggest mainstays IMO.
And of course, Power Girl.
1 - (Justice Society) Cyclone 2 - (Justice Society) Red Tornado (Ma Hunkle) 3 - (Justice Society) Huntress (Helena Wayne of Earth-2) 4 - (Justice Society) Flash (Jay Garrick) 5 - (Justice Society) Green Lantern (Alan Scott)

Sorry to see a lot of these go in Round 7.
(Justice Society) Hawkgirl (Kendra Saunders) - 131 A strong character, who I enjoyed being distinctive in her own right, rather than "Hawkman & ..." I think Shayera has been more strongly portrayed as time has gone by too though.
(Justice Society) Spectre (Jim Corrigan) - 124 He's really far too powerful to be a crime fighter, but it's that mix of mortality with cosmic supernatural that provides a lot of the edge to him.
(Freedom Fighters) Plastic Man - 114 I was thinking of the Jack Cole stories as I voted for him. So, definitely points for the golden age, rather than any JSA/Squadron or later JLA appearances. Its sheer inventiveness is just something you don't see later on. Oh, and not least because of LW's Woozy Winks thread!
(Justice Society) Stargirl - 57 Not someone I've read a huge amount of, beyond a few Stars and S.T.R.P.E. well after it was cancelled. Clearly a stand out of the JSA run though.
(Justice Society) Hourman (Rex Tyler) - 30 Back in the days when pill popping was as acceptable as putting cocaine into coca cola used to be. Rex is lucky they weren't atomically powered into the bargain. :-)
As Superman became invulnerable, Rex still only had his hour of power He was a vulnerable action hero fro most of his life, which gave him a sort of demi god status in between the likes of Lantern, Fate and the Spectre. He uses his powers to do good deeds, the details of which he receives by mail.

1. (Justice Society) (Pre-Flashpoint) Anna Fortune Because the girl is steampunk and I love her short time with the team and we never really got the chance to see her developed. I mad got plans on doing a conversion of her too.
2. (Justice Society) Green Lantern (Alan Scott) Because come on he 75 years in the business and awesome. No wooden hangers!!!!
3. (Justice Society) Huntress (Helena Wayne of Earth-2) She just kicks ass.
4. (Justice Society) (Pre-Flashpoint) Mister America (Jeffrey Graves) Another one I loved that got the short run (plus another I plan on during a conversion of).
5. (Justice Society) Mister Terrific (Michael Holt) Because he is awesome!

Ok so rules have been explained to me. I'm sad but willing to adjust my choices, sniffle.
Sub out Anna for Jay Garrick Flash.
Jeffrey is replaced with Doctor Fate since he is a Lord of Order and can mess with my and my future selves karma.

I am curious, and I don't want to sound rude, but why do people like Earth-2 Robin? Isn't he basically the same as Earth-1 Robin?

I'm voting for him because I was always thrilled to see him in the Super Squad, the JLA/JSA crossovers, Infinity Inc and in the Huntress backups in Wonder Woman. He epitomized how Earth 2 was different from Earth 1.
Plus he had that kooky yellow cowl thing. I loved the idea of an adult Dick Grayson being part of the "big leagues" of the JSA.

For me he's a very early example of a legacy character. It looked as though Earth-1 Robin would always be young, while this version had matured and would go onto be an ambassador.
Nightwing may have come along after the success of the Titans, but Earth-2 Robin was a grown up crimefighter a lot earlier.
I was curious about Ma Hunkle, why Ystina and why over Justin, Cyclone & Mr Terrific myself and would love to hear more about what they mean to the other voters.
