ROUND 5 RESULTS!
Wow. I'd like to say that this round was very surprising... on the other hand, with so few characters left, any set of results is bound to be a surprise!
Only 12 out of 25 will survive...
(Justice Society) Huntress (Helena Wayne of Earth-2) - 1090 (Justice Society) Red Tornado (Ma Hunkle) - 580 (Justice Society) Hawkgirl (Kendra Saunders) - 495 (Justice Society) Doctor Fate (Kent Nelson) - 462 (Justice Society) Power Girl - 450 (Justice Society) Flash (Jay Garrick) - 403 (Justice Society) Mister Terrific (Michael Holt) - 401 (Freedom Fighters) Plastic Man - 399 (Justice Society) Green Lantern (Alan Scott) - 388 (Justice Society) Hourman (Rex Tyler) - 363 (Justice Society) Cyclone - 359 (SSoV) Shining Knight (Ystina) - 358
And going home today...
(All-Star Squadron) Sargon the Sorceror - 350 (Justice Society) Jakeem Thunder - 346 (Justice Society) Johnny Thunder - 341 (Justice Society) Sand/Sandman (Sanderson Hawkins) - 325 (Justice Society) Robin (Dick Grayson of Earth-2) - 266 (All-Star Squadron) Amazing Man (Will Everett) - 265 (SSoV) Manhattan Guardian - 240 (All-Star Squadron) Tarantula - 240 (Justice Society) Superman (Kal-El of Earth-2) - 220 (All-Star Squadron) Dr. Occult - 171 (Infinity Inc.) Northwind - 100 (Justice Society) Wonder Woman (Diana of Earth-2) - 54 (Justice Society) Batman (Bruce Wayne of Earth-2) - 10
Wow. 6/9 of us voted for Earth-2 Robin, but he still went home because most of us had him at the bottom of our lists. I wonder, did all of the 6 vote for him because they liked him? or did some just need to fill up their lists?
Both Johnny and Jakeem Thunder go home despite getting one first place vote each! That's no longer enough to save someone.
Sargon just barely misses the cut off.
Despite placing first a couple of rounds ago, Northwind goes home - the last Infinity Inc. member on the list who didn't graduate into the JSA proper.
Manhattan Guardian goes home too. I never read anything with him in it, but I have heard good things about Morrison's Seven Soldiers.
Amazing Man's luck also runs out despite doing quite well in the rounds leading up to this. I never read anything with this Amazing Man, but I am familiar with him through Amazing Man II and III. His powerset makes him quite a powerful character.
Dr. Occult, one of the earliest heroes and one with a very good design, goes home too despite being on 5 lists.
Tarantula, someone else whom I always thought had a nice look and costume, says bye bye.
We also lose Sand Hawkins. He was one of my favorites from his JSA era.
And finally, the "Big 3" from Earth-2 all go home! I'm a bit shocked. Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman all. I thought WW would last longer.

ROUND SIX BEGINS!!
The Justice Society and the All-Star Squadron have been rather large teams, but now we're down to 12...
It's time to go a-recruiting!
WILD CARD ROUND!!
A word of caution - as has happened in the past, the character you bring back just might cause another of your faves to go home!
Read carefully, please!
Each player gets 150 points to distribute however they please.
To use Legionnaires as an example:
Voter 1 - 150 points to Gates
Voter 2 - 100 points to Kinetix, 50 points to Dawnstar
Voter 3 - 30 points to Monstress, 30 points to Wildfire, 30 points to Bouncing Boy, 30 points to Brainiac 5, 30 points to Nightwind
The only condition is that your total points must add up to 150 or less.
If your total is less than 150, I'll still count it; if more than 150, you will need to change your vote.
Top 3 vote-getters come back to the list, joining our current 12 to make a Top 15.
In case of ties, the character who left most recently will return to the game. (E.g. if Chemical King and Invisible Kid tie, but Lyle left in Round 4 and Chem left in Round 5, then Chem gets to come back).
If characters STILL tie, I will look at the number of points they had when they were eliminated.
Because of the nature of our initial list (a mix of different teams), you can vote for ANY character, even those not on the list below, AS LONG AS you can cite their membership in one of the following teams:
All-Star Squadron Freedom Fighters Infinity Inc. Justice Society Squadron of Justice Seven Soldiers of Victory Young All-Stars
To make it easier, I am reposting the list of eliminated characters.
First, a special shout out to three characters whom I missed, but should have been on the list:
(Justice Society) Blue Devil (Justice Society) (Stealing Thunder alternate future) Crimson Avenger (Jill Carlyle) (Justice Society) (Stealing Thunder alternate future) Icicle
Now, the full list of characters eliminated from the game:
(All-Star Squadron) Air Wave (Lawrence Jordan) (All-Star Squadron) Amazing Man (Will Everett) (All-Star Squadron) Aquaman (Earth-2) (All-Star Squadron) Arak, Son of Thunder (All-Star Squadron) Black Pirate (All-Star Squadron) Blackhawk (Janos Prohaska) (All-Star Squadron) Blackhawks (Andre) (All-Star Squadron) Blackhawks (Baker) (All-Star Squadron) Blackhawks (Boris) (All-Star Squadron) Blackhawks (Chop-Chop) (All-Star Squadron) Blackhawks (Chuck) (All-Star Squadron) Blackhawks (Hendrickson) (All-Star Squadron) Blackhawks (Miss Fear) (All-Star Squadron) Blackhawks (Olaf) (All-Star Squadron) Blackhawks (Stanislaus) (All-Star Squadron) Blackhawks (Zeg) (All-Star Squadron) Blue Beetle (Dan Garret) (All-Star Squadron) Blue Boys (Tubby and Toughy) (All-Star Squadron) Captain Marvel (Earth-S) (All-Star Squadron) Captain Marvel Jr. (Earth-S) (All-Star Squadron) Captain Triumph (All-Star Squadron) Commander Steel (All-Star Squadron) Dr. Occult (All-Star Squadron) Fireball (All-Star Squadron) Firebrand (Danette Reilly) (All-Star Squadron) Golden Gladiator (All-Star Squadron) Guardian (Jim Harper) (All-Star Squadron) Johnny Quick (All-Star Squadron) Judomaster (Hadley "Rip" Jagger) (All-Star Squadron) Kuei (All-Star Squadron) Lady Blackhawk (Zinda Blake) (All-Star Squadron) Little Boy Blue (All-Star Squadron) Little Miss Redhead (All-Star Squadron) Manhunter (Paul Kirk) (All-Star Squadron) Mary Marvel (Earth-S) (All-Star Squadron) Merlin the Magician (All-Star Squadron) Miss Liberty (All-Star Squadron) Newsboy Legion - Big Words (All-Star Squadron) Newsboy Legion - Gabby (All-Star Squadron) Newsboy Legion - Scrapper (All-Star Squadron) Newsboy Legion - Tommy Tompkins (All-Star Squadron) Phantasmo (All-Star Squadron) Quicksilver / Max Mercury (All-Star Squadron) Robotman (Robert Crane) (All-Star Squadron) Sargon the Sorceror (All-Star Squadron) Silent Knight (All-Star Squadron) Speed Saunders (All-Star Squadron) Strong Bow (All-Star Squadron) Super-Chief (All-Star Squadron) Tarantula (All-Star Squadron) The Squire (All-Star Squadron) Tiger (All-Star Squadron) TNT (All-Star Squadron) Tor, the Magic Master (All-Star Squadron) Trigger Twins (All-Star Squadron) Valda the Iron Maiden (All-Star Squadron) Whip III (Rodney Gaynor) (All-Star Squadron) Zatara (Elsewords: Golden Age) Americommando (Tex Thompson) (Elsewords: Golden Age) Atom (Al Pratt) (Elsewords: Golden Age) Captain Triumph (Elsewords: Golden Age) Dan the Dyna-Mite (Elsewords: Golden Age) Green Lantern (Alan Scott) (Elsewords: Golden Age) Hawkman (Carter Hall) (Elsewords: Golden Age) Hourman (Rex Tyler) (Elsewords: Golden Age) Johnny Quick (Elsewords: Golden Age) Johnny Thunder (Elsewords: Golden Age) Liberty Belle (Libby Lawrence) (Elsewords: Golden Age) Manhunter (Paul Kirk) (Elsewords: Golden Age) Miss America (Elsewords: Golden Age) Robotman (Robert Crane) (Elsewords: Golden Age) Starman (Ted Knight) (Elsewords: Golden Age) Tarantula (Elsewords: Golden Age) Thunderbolt (Elsewords: Golden Age) Tigress (Paula Brooks) (Elsewords: Multiversity) Black Condor (Elsewords: Multiversity) Doll Man (Elsewords: Multiversity) Doll Woman (Elsewords: Multiversity) Human Bomb (Elsewords: Multiversity) Phantom Lady (Elsewords: Multiversity) Ray (Elsewords: Multiversity) Uncle Sam (Freedom Fighters) Black Condor (John Trujillo) (Freedom Fighters) Black Condor (Ryan Kendall) (Freedom Fighters) Black Condor (Thomas Wright) (Freedom Fighters) Doll Man (Darrell Dane) (Freedom Fighters) Doll Man (Lester Colt) (Freedom Fighters) Firebrand (Andre Twist) (Freedom Fighters) Firebrand (Rod Reilly) (Freedom Fighters) Human Bomb (Andy Franklin) (Freedom Fighters) Human Bomb (Roy Lincoln) (Freedom Fighters) Invisible Hood (Ken Thurston) (Freedom Fighters) Invisible Hood (Kent Thurston) (Freedom Fighters) Jester (Freedom Fighters) Magno (Freedom Fighters) Manhunter (Dan Richards) (Freedom Fighters) Midnight (Freedom Fighters) Neon the Unknown (Freedom Fighters) Phantom Lady (Dee Tyler) (Freedom Fighters) Phantom Lady (Sandra Knight) (Freedom Fighters) Phantom Lady (Stormy Knight) (Freedom Fighters) Ray (Happy Terrill) (Freedom Fighters) Ray (Ray Terrill) (Freedom Fighters) Ray (Stan Silver) (Freedom Fighters) Red Bee (Jenna Raleigh) (Freedom Fighters) Red Bee (Rick Raleigh) (Freedom Fighters) Red Torpedo (Freedom Fighters) Uncle Sam (Infinity Inc.) 150 points to (Justice Society) Stargirl Btw, if you're going to give points to character/s on the list, please copy-paste the naming convention on the list to make it less confusing for me.

Tough choice. While I'd like to bring back some of the Soldiers, I know it's an uphill battle to keep them around. Instead I'll go with the big guy:
150 points - (Justice Society) Spectre (Jim Corrigan)

I lost a few in this round. With the points I was was having to put into some of them early on, I had a feeling it would be a matter of time before some of them would be out.
(All-Star Squadron) Sargon the Sorceror - 350 I remember him more from his JLA appearance, rather than anything in the Golden Age.
(Justice Society) Jakeem Thunder - 346 I didn't read too much of his time in the JSA, but the ones I did read had such a big cast, that a lot of characters were squeezed of panel time.
(Justice Society) Johnny Thunder - 341 A funny, but still powerful, character that offset the JSA. Somehow Ma Hunkle is still in there.
(Justice Society) Sand/Sandman (Sanderson Hawkins) - 325 I was never a fan of boy sidekicks. I know they were there to provide a way of kids to identify with the book. But I always preferred reading about the main characters, even as a kid, and these guys just got in the way. Anyway, Hawkins was a monster in a bubble for me in a story I didn't really enjoy. turning into a Marvel type "homage" didn't work much for me either.
(Justice Society) Robin (Dick Grayson of Earth-2) - 266 I was voting more on the grown up Robin, than the kid version. His costume was daft, but he was an imaginary story type of character made real on Earth-2. An early legacy character that we'd see replicated in Power Girl, The Huntress and through Infinity Inc.
(All-Star Squadron) Amazing Man (Will Everett) - 265 I didn't favour giving points to retcons over the characters who originally appeared.
(SSoV) Manhattan Guardian - 240 Looked good in the costume, and was a decent enough guy. His four parter was a bit meh for me.
(All-Star Squadron) Tarantula - 240 I liked his second costume, but that was a retcon. His writing a book later on was one of the most interesting things about him, so he didn't get any points from me.
(Justice Society) Superman (Kal-El of Earth-2) - 220 I enjoyed the simple purity of those early comics, when I got to read them in Archive editions. There's a lot of rough charm in them, that I don't see in the endless punch ups of later years.
(All-Star Squadron) Dr. Occult - 171 I was giving him points for his place in posterity. I can't say I remember enjoying what I've read of him really.
(Infinity Inc.) Northwind - 100 He was always a meh character for me. I liked the reincarnation/ archaeology/Egyptian side of Hawkman and not so much the feathers.
(Justice Society) Wonder Woman (Diana of Earth-2) - 54 I thought she'd do a little better, but then I thought that of all the Big 3. Those early issues are fun and I probably enjoy them more now than I would have done as a kid, just for reading between the lines.
(Justice Society) Batman (Bruce Wayne of Earth-2) - 10 I was wondering if Supes and Bats didn't get points as they were peripheral to the JSA, rather than their status in the Golden Age? I know I wondered about giving them points early on. His death seemed a bit throwaway at the time. Somehow, not powerful enough. But we got others stepping up to take over, and the America vs the JSA mini series. Considering what happened to Golden Age Supes and Wondy in the end, Batman's departure seems superb by comparison.

100 All-Star Squadron) Captain Marvel Jr. (Earth-S) 25 (Justice Society) Sand/Sandman (Sanderson Hawkins) 25 (Squadron of Justice) Bulletgirl
Fawcett gets most of my votes this time do to the quality of the comics; especially Captain Marvel JR. Bulletgirl is awesome despite the space age costume, and she doesn't share a similar origin with Hawkgirl.
Sand/Sandman is a great character when you overlook the turning into monster plot device. Was that story by any chance written by Roy Thomas? If so, he also used it in regards to Wanda and Pietro's parents (the Golden Age heroes version) in regards to their real child.
Sand (I think he had a name like Sandy the Golden Boy) was originally a creation of Kirby and Simon when they first left Timely/Atlas/Marvel. They redid both of the character's costumes and had what appears to have been a successful run.

Somehow Ma Hunkle is still in there.
I loved Ma Hunkle's return in the 2000s. She poked fun at her silly Red Tornado costume. She was such a dear, acting as housekeeper and curator for the JSA. Reminds me of my own grandma.

ROUND 6 RESULTS!Who gets a second chance? Dave predicted correctly, there was a tie... In ascending order... (All-Star Squadron) Amazing Man (Will Everett) - 25 (Infinity Inc.) Northwind - 25 (Squadron of Justice) Bulletgirl - 25 (All-Star Squadron) Sargon the Sorceror - 100 (All-Star Squadron) Captain Marvel Jr. (Earth-S) - 100 (Justice Society) Sand/Sandman (Sanderson Hawkins) - 175 (All-Star Squadron) Firebrand (Danette Reilly) - 200 (Justice Society) Stargirl - 200 (Justice Society) Robin (Dick Grayson of Earth-2) - 225 (Justice Society) Spectre (Jim Corrigan) - 275 So we have to break the tie between Firebrand and Stargirl.
In case of ties, the character who left most recently will return to the game. (E.g. if Chemical King and Invisible Kid tie, but Lyle left in Round 4 and Chem left in Round 5, then Chem gets to come back).
Firebrand left in Round 3, while Stargirl left in Round 4. So Stargirl makes it back. So rejoining the game are: (Justice Society) Robin (Dick Grayson of Earth-2) (Justice Society) Spectre (Jim Corrigan) (Justice Society) Stargirl Welcome back to these three! And though I voted for Stargirl, I would not have minded if Firebrand made it back in!

Round 7 Begins!Congratulations to our Top 15! The winnowing begins again though... From 15, let us go down to a Top 10! Pick 7 characters from the list, and rank them 1-7. Points will be given as follows: Rank Points 1 - 155 2 - 85 3 - 45 4 - 25 5 - 12 6 - 5 7 - 1 House Rules1) Each round will last about 48 hours. I will try to end each round at the same time, but this won't always be possible because of work. 2) I'll vote at the start of every round to minimize bias on my part. 3) I don't encourage editing of votes; it's a smart tactic but may be unfair for those who don't get to log on as often. However, I won't disallow them either. I'll only tally votes at the end of each round (to make it easier on myself!). I'll post on this thread the minute I start tallying to alert everyone; votes that come in after that will be ignored. 4) In case of errors in the results, I'll post a correction immediately. If anyone's vote was affected by the error, that poster will be notified by PM immediately. If the poster cannot correct his/her votes before the end of the round, he/she will get a makeup point next round - a +15 bonus. This only applies to instances where I made the error, and not where the poster made an error. 5) Points will be given based on your ranking. The higher you rank a character on your list, the more points that character will get (e.g. Rank 1 gets 10 points, Rank 2 gets 9 points...) Point distributions will change per round. If characters tie, the tie will be broken by considering the total number of points characters have gotten in previous rounds. 6) Exception to the above will be the first 1-2 rounds of the game, which trim the list down considerably. Each vote will count as one point, and characters below a certain point threshold get eliminated. 7) Because several characters have the same code name, and because the list includes multiple realities, PLEASE SPECIFY which character you are voting for. In fact, as much as possible PLEASE use the exact name that I have used on the list (this will make it easier for me to tally votes using Microsoft Excel!)I won't make assumptions for votes which don't identify the character clearly. Example, if you vote for: 1) Doctor Fate 2) Cyclone 3) Star-spangled Kid 4) Green Lantern (TV: Brave and the Bold) I'll only count the votes for Cyclone and Green Lantern. I have no way of knowing if you're voting for Dr. Fate Kent Nelson vs. Dr. Fate Kent V. Nelson, or whether you're voting for Star-spangled Kid Sly Pemberton, or Courtney Whitmore (she briefly used that name)! Teams still represented:Justice Society of AmericaFreedom FightersSSoV / Seven Soldiers of VictoryI listed characters according to code name. When classifying them under the appropriate team, I started with the JSA - so if a character has ever been a JSA member, they are listed there. Besides Hector Hall as Dr. Fate and Silver Scarab, I only listed a "core" reality character under one team. So Al Rothstein is Atom-Smasher under JSA, and is not listed under Infinity Inc. as Nuklon. The Top 15!(Freedom Fighters) Plastic Man (Justice Society) Cyclone (Justice Society) Doctor Fate (Kent Nelson) (Justice Society) Flash (Jay Garrick) (Justice Society) Green Lantern (Alan Scott) (Justice Society) Hawkgirl (Kendra Saunders) (Justice Society) Hourman (Rex Tyler) (Justice Society) Huntress (Helena Wayne of Earth-2) (Justice Society) Mister Terrific (Michael Holt) (Justice Society) Power Girl (Justice Society) Red Tornado (Ma Hunkle) (Justice Society) Robin (Dick Grayson of Earth-2) (Justice Society) Spectre (Jim Corrigan) (Justice Society) Stargirl (SSoV) Shining Knight (Ystina)
