I once knew a woman who worked with sewage. She would tell people "I know $h!t."

$h!t is one of those words that can be used in a good way or in a bad way.

Using symbols for letters in profane words is variously called grawlixes, profanitype, and symbol swearing.

Symbol swearing. Sounds like something I could do using hand gestures.

If a piece of a drum kit falls on your foot and you curse, is that cymbal swearing?

Here we go. Everyone thinking that their witty play on words is the best. Everyone thinking they are the pun and only.

I play air drums. It's a cymbalic gesture.

I am an invertebrate punster. I am spinelessly unable to resist a pun. So slug me!

When we are missing one of the men in our choir, we have a special name for each one. For example, when Tony is absent, we are atonal. One of the wittier gents (not as witty as I, of course wink ) was very excited to have come up with one for a fellow named Abel. He was so proud of "unAbel." I smiled, blinked and said "disAbeled." His face fell.

Jessica Abel is an indie comic book creator. Her most famous work is titled "La Perdida" (Spanish for "The Lost Female.")

I love Jessica Abel's comics! I used to have some of them. Also, I've seen her college newspaper comics, because she went to the same college mr_cleome did!

The name Jessica first appeared as such in Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice.

Back in 2007 Russell Crowe axed the cheerleaders from his rugby club. He felt that the outfits weren't appropriate.

Axing of cheerleaders will no doubt make an appearance in Kappa Kid's Schlock Horror thread if it hasn't already.

On of my biggest pet peeves is people who pronounce "ask" as "ax".

There's also "pacific" for "specific", "nookyular" for "nuclear", among others.

"To be specific, it's our pacific" was a Tin Pan Alley produced song following the Pearl Harbour attack.
