I thought we might as well get this thread going since the early reviews are already hitting the web for the flick. I don't really care about spoilers so I checked out some plot heavy reviews for the movie and all I have to say is this:

Holy shit, this one is a doozy... confused mad

I'm going to the 6:00 pm show tomorrow night. I'm just looking for a good smack down and to see Supes get handed his ticket. Not expecting too much story wise because, you know, Snyder.

Currently at 36% on Rotten Tomatoes. Which has dropped since last time I looked.

My views are my own and do not reflect those of everyone else... and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Hard pass for me. Snyder's fooled me enough times that he's all out of chances. Which is sad, because I would have wanted to see a good DCU cinematic representation.

I'll see it and then hate myself for doing so.

I'm only going for Wonder Woman (and possibly Aquaman).

Spoiler tagged just in case someone wants to be totally surprised...plus there's the possibility they could be wrong.

The guys that work at my LCS told me today
that there is a Legion reference in the movie.

I shudder to think how seriously it will take itself, how humorless/joyless it will be, but I am going to see it tomorrow night anyway. smile

I'm thinking I'm going to buy a ticket for 10 Cloverfield Lane and try to sneak into BvS afterwards.

I'll probably wait to see on Amazon or something, but, weirdly, the level of negativity of the reviews I've seen actually makes me more curious!

I don't understand the critic bashing that's going on but I'm at the theater and just waiting to be allowed in to sit in my leather easy chair (best theater seats ever!).

Full disclosure - I always get a kick out of Snyder. I really enjoyed it, and think the critics are missing the point. Tons of iconic moments straight out of our comic books. Please, though, don't take young kids. It's not for children.

It's a bit worrisome that children can't see a Superman movie.

Well, I for one highly anticipate the forthcoming "grown-up", "realistic" Popeye movie, in which he finally gets to swear like a sailor-man! wink

It wasn't that bad a movie, actually. Affleck was good as Batman, better as Bruce. Cavill grew into his role since the last one. Still can't stand Adams as Lois (Lana maybe). But the worst thing about the movie was the one I worried about. Eisenberg as Luthor. He played him more Joker than Lex then turned into Dracula's Renfield. Full on "master is coming". His Lex was manic, twitchy and minimally a smarter than average person. This was just not Lex or even Alexander Luthor.

Didn't catch a
Legion reference. Unless it was the message from the future Bruce received that I couldn't tell who the character was supposed to be
.

Oh, Gadot was perfect as Diana! And I loved the music used for when she arrived at the scene of the fight. Enough to want the soundtrack. Definitely want to see that solo movie in 2017. But the rest of the JL? Stupid. Especially Aquaman. Awkwardly done scene for him.

I'd give it a three out of five.

I couldn't hear the music when Wonder Woman joined the fight. The crowd literally erupted into cheers. That's all I could could hear. That was a highlight for this old Wonder Woman fan.

I'm dreading watching this eventually.

But I do have to say that I'm kind of optimistic for the Wonder Woman movie and like everything I've seen and heard so far!

Just saw it.

I find it helpful to go into movies with very few expectations. I find I'm not disappointed and can even approach the movie on its own merits (or lack thereof) instead of being saddled with my own ideas.

That said, the movie was a mixed bag for me. The long build-up and inclusion of so many subplots and characters left me wondering if it would ever end. Once it got into the fight between Superman and Batman, things picked up, and where the movie turned for me--where I really started to enjoy it--was when the fight turned because of something Superman and Batman both have in common. (No spoilers!) From that point on, I was rooting for the World's Finest team.

I also liked Amy Adams as Lois. She, more than any other character, humanized the film. She also has a very active role to play for a character without powers.

I didn't care for Lex, though. Too much like Heath Ledger's Joker.

Perry White also drew a thumbs down for me. Laurence Fishburne is a great actor, but this Perry is a headline-spouting cartoonish editor who would rather have Clark write sports stories than investigate "the Bat."

No, the movie is not for kids (even though there were quite a few in the theater, including a three-year-old who couldn't sit still). The movie deals with several very adult themes, such as the fact that being a hero means doing things which, even though they may solve one problem, may create more problems for someone else. In this sense, the movie built well off of the previous film's battle with Zod.

It's ironic that the Marvel films tend to be more kid-friendly than the DC films. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is no doubt who the good guys are, who the bad guys are, and civilian casualties are usually kept to a minimum or not dwelled on (though the trailer for Civil War suggests that's about to change). The DC films have taken a more adult approach since the beginning with mixed results. It's jarring to see Superman and Batman--icons of our childhoods--fight so viciously, or to see Superman's actions misunderstood by the people he tries to help. Such ideas seem more at home in Watchmen.

But it's a different world we live in, the film seems to be saying, and there was much which echoed the current political uncertainties.

Ai yi yi. Saw it Friday night. Mixed bag. Anything I mention below has been in the previews, so I don't think there are any spoilers.

The good:
- Wonder Woman showing up (the only "audience claps" moment of the entire film)
- The fight scenes were good: spectacular effects and brutally "real" (although the brutality might turn some people off)
- I thought Affleck made a really good Bruce Wayne
- Glimpses of those other heroes and hints of what's to come in the Justice League movies
- Although I'm not sure I'm on board with the execution, the huge scale and scope and universe-building of this movie was impressive

Not so good:
- This is a dark, joyless movie. No one smiles in this movie (except perhaps a coy half-smile from Gal Gadot when she verbally spars with Batfleck?). Fun is not allowed.
- This Movie is Very Important, and every Scene in it is Very Important!!!!!!! I was stuffed full with the Very Importance of Every Scene in this Very Important Movie which is a Setting Up the DC Universe in a Very Very Important Way!!!
- I desperately hated Jesse Eisenberg's Luthor, who seemed more crazy and unhinged than a super-genius
- I think the character of Superman is even more damaged after this movie, although saying why might involve spoilers, so I will refrain for now.

Ah, well. I am looking forward to the WW movie (I gotta think Robin Wright is gonna rock as a militant Amazon) and the other solo movies have potential, but Zack Snyder just doesn't do it for me.
