Heh. Well, that's really from the Was (not Was) song "Oh, Mr. Friction!" but I'll take the compliment anyway.

I think my science acumen needs work. I never made it all the way through that DeGrasse-Tyson book two years ago. I want to try again, but I'm chicken.

Whenever I read an article about physics I get that same feeling.
When it's a psychology or sociology article though, I do much better.

I was okay with Biology, but Physics made my poor brain just melt. Same with Chemistry.
If they'd merged Home Ec with Chemistry and used cooking to explain the principles, I bet I would've done a lot better.

Biology was my best science also. A lot of it came down to math for me. I was always pretty good at math, but I didn't enjoy it, so I didn't apply myself. I never took calculus because it wasn't required and I didn't want it to bring down my GPA.

I can understand the concepts with enough study, but never found these subjects to be all that interesting. Kind of like Rocky and math
I like cleome's idea of linking chemistry to cooking.

When I was a freshman in high school, I accidentally got assigned to Health Science (which had a gym element to it) and Biology, but no social studies course. When it was discovered, I was given the option of which class I would keep. It turned out if I took the Health Science class, I would still have to eventually take biology and one other science class. Seeing as science wasn't my favorite subject and I really hated gym, I choose to keep biology and drop health science. So after sophmore year (and a chemistry class) I never took another science class again.

Phy. Ed. haters unite!! I was a big time bike rider and tree climber as a kid, but fitness classes and team sports were torture. It's like the adage, often quoted by The Fat Nutritionist, that the quickest way to ruin a fun activity is to make it a competition. Or assign a grading system to it.

Thank you!
These days my favorite exercise is the elliptical. I like it because I'm not competing against anyone. I'm just flailing. When I was a kid, I was always the slowest runner and the clumsiest thrower. PE just gave the other kids fodder for making fun of me.

I love my Yoga so much! Though I probably would take a class instead of just doing it at home, if I had the money.

You know, I hear people talking about how they were always chosen last in gym and how that upset them even to this day. Well, I was always chosen last, but it never bothered me.

We spent our gym class studying the history of basketball, the length of the court, the diameter of the ball...

Can one really be too kind? This world needs more kindness.
