My few conscious memories of the 70s are all good, but then I was five years old when the decade ended.

I dig a lot of the music from the decade.

The 70s had a lot of good music...and a lot of bad music. Just like any decade.

Time to start an inter-board war by bombarding Mr. David with all my clips of Tavares and Chicago Transit Authority. We wouldn't get along anyway. He blew a gasket at the Scans Daily people once, and his name is now more or less a dirty word over there.

Uh? What are the Scans Daily?
(And while he's one of my favorite writers and was nice to me the one time I met him, I don't agree with everything he says.)

Scans Daily is a fan community which used to be on Livejournal. Now they're on Dreamwidth. They post scans of comics (not the entire book, of course) with running commentary and critiques by/for fans. David took a dislike to his work being posted, and got their LJ account shut down.

Indeed. And I couldn't contain myself, so I Googled Scans Daily, and found out what is was/is, and even found Peter David's side of the story. (Which I thought I had copied to paste here, but apparently I didn't.) EDIT: Sorry, Cleome, I was writing my post just as you were making your post. ANOTHER EDIT: I was able to find it again. Here it is: http://www.peterdavid.net/2009/02/28/scans-daily/

Yep, I remember that. I started hanging out there later than over here, I think. By that time, S_D had decided to head off future episodes like that by placing much more rigid restrictions on what could and couldn't be posted. But the site is still doing well, I think. Though maybe not as well as it did before the ascendancy of FB, Twitter & tumblr.

I'm quite openly bitter about the way social media has eaten into activity on message boards such as this one.

Maybe it should inspire us all to go out and get more fresh air and exercise.

Go OUTSIDE????? EEEEEEEEK! Seriously, though, I've always felt more comfortable indoors. Ever since Kindergarten, really. Hmmm...that was a long time ago. Maybe it IS time for a change.

I too used to stay indoors all the time. Once I got past the fear for my safety and the concern about dirt, I learned to appreciate the outdoors

Outdoors can be good. I got a little busy for a few days and, with everything else going on (just busy) and my main online access these days being on my iPad, I just didn't check in on LW for a few days. And that is how Ibby won.

In one Peanuts strip, Snoopy barks to shoo some birds away from his doghouse, then thinks to himself, "I don't share my pad with anyone."

I keep a note pad by my desk in case a client calls. I got a little busy for a few days and, with everything else going on (just busy) and my main online access these days being on my iPad, I just didn't check in on LW for a few days. And that is how Ibby won. I didn't even notice myself that I had won My main access these past few days has been via phone, but I do check when stuck in traffic (often) or while waiting for a client meeting (also often)

Traffic was an overrated, pretentious 60s/70s rock band. The only song of theirs I like is "Heaven Is in Your Mind", and even then I prefer the Three Dog Night cover version.

In one Peanuts strip, Snoopy barks to shoo some birds away from his doghouse, then thinks to himself, "I don't share my pad with anyone." Snoopy's thought balloons were one of the odder things in Peanuts. Sometimes it seems that the kids can "hear" him and sometimes it doesn't.

True, but what "Peanuts" lacked in continuity, it made up for in every other way.
