Yeah, it could be. If someone solves and gets to do the next puzzle, they should commit to look in at least once or twice a day so that: a) we aren't left hanging (natch! wink ), and b) we don't have so many letter guesses that the puzzle is practically solved in the next round because so many have been filled in.

I was thinking of it the other way where if the puzzler updates several times a day but certain guessers are only on once a day, they could end up becoming ineligible because they miss rounds. So you need enough time to allow everyone a chance to guess, but not too long that the number of letters filled in defeats the purpose of the game.

I think once a day is reasonable for games like this. Even with the recent Idol/Survivor games, the vast majority of players were able to vote within the first 24 hours after a new round started.

What do you guys think?

I like the Round 1 rule for "no vowels". Helps level the playing field.

I think the Round 2 rule is interesting, but it is a bit hard to check. Maybe instead, we can limit vowels to... Round 3/4 onwards? Or apply some other cost for guessing vowels.

That's correct, Ibby!

You have the next puzzle, and I think we'll try out the vowel idea I had above....

...and see how it goes!

Ibby, if you have any questions with how to proceed, feel free to ask! nod

Okay, let's take a stab at it!

And let's test out the new rules Lardy introduced. I'm going to have to be careful with the second rule tongue

1st round: No vowels

2nd round and onward: Participant who guesses the consonant that appears the most times in the subsequent reveal, may guess a vowel in the next round if he/she chooses. If there's a tie in this regard, no one gets to guess a vowel next round.

INTERJECTION

Are Blacula and I allowed in the game again or do we have to wait for the next round? I'm still a bit confused on the rules. blush

Because this is a new puzzle, I think you and Blacula and anyone can guess a consonant.

IB: Do the 6 lines represent 6 different destinations? Or is it one destination like "The Leaning Tower of Pisa" or something? I've never seen this category on WoF before but then, I haven't watched the show in 20 years.

Yeah, new puzzle is a total restart. But to clarify, you and Blacula were only disallowed to solve the puzzle until the next time you had a correct letter guess. It so happened that Ibby solved it and made subsequent letter reveals and guesses unnecessary.

This game isn't exactly Wheel of Fortune, so the categories don't have to be the same as ones they use. It's up to the puzzle creator as to how much information he or she wants to give in the category title.

This is one destination that has six words in total.

Round 1 done:

Category: Travel Destinations (each "line" represents one word)

T _ _ N
_ _ _ _ _
_ _
N _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ N
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ N _ S

Incorrect letters: R

Tally:

N (EDE) - 4
T (Blacula) - 1
R (Kappa) - 0
S (Lardy) - 1

If I understand the rules correctly, then next round:

EDE may guess a vowel OR solve the puzzle.
Blacula and Lardy may solve the puzzle.
Everyone (including Kappa) may guess a consonant.

Round 2 results:

Category: Travel Destinations (each "line" represents one word)

T _ _ N
_ E _ C H
E L
N _ _ _
_ _ L _ _ _ N
_ H _ L _ _ _ _ N E S

Incorrect letters: R, M

Tally:

EDE (E) - 3
Kappa (H) - 2
Quis (M) - 0
Blacula (L) - 3
Lardy (C) - 1

If I understand correctly (but Lardy or anyone pls. correct me if I'm wrong):

Then:

Blacula may guess a vowel OR solve the puzzle
EDE guessed a vowel last round, so may not guess a vowel this round, but may try to solve the puzzle or guess another consonant
Kappa and Lardy may try to solve the puzzle or guess another consonant
Quis and any new players may guess a consonant

I feel ignorant that I have no idea what this place is even with all those letters.

My English language bias is showing too because I keep wanting to fill in the blanks to make an English word in what can't be an English language destination.

So I'll just throw out a vowel:

It sure looks like it's in Spanish or something. It's not in the rules, but in the future, we should stick to English.

Anyhow...
