I've only ever encountered the occasional bee, but certainly not a whole nest. *shudders*
Hope you're rid of them soon, Lashie.

That happens here too, with the dreaded flying cockroaches. If they're high up on a wall, spray 'em at your own risk...

... trust yer olde buddy Lash, hey don't give a shit bout how good a dancer ya are. And they are notoriously humorless and hard to hit with a blunt instrument.... That was all true before I stumbled across this great instructional video...

Hairspray and a lighter work wonders for nest removal. Trust me.

Also a great way to singe eyebrows and cash in on insurance policies. The home store had this stuff that shot out a foam like spray, hit the nests without getting close. Had a good ten foot range. Have you found a nest? Few years ago, some wasps had built this, only way to describe, MAGNIFICENT structure under the gutter over-night. Easily two feet long, natural browns with curvy, wavy patterns that were just harmony. It was a natural art. Instincts kicked in though, bought the stuff and killed the nest but boy, did we regret it, me and the neighbors whose driveway it was next to. We'd not thought to even take photos. But it had to be done. Wasps are easily riled.

Ugh. LASH, this sounds like the stuff of nightmares. It may be time to call in a pro who can suss out where their hideout is. Every year, I have mud dauber wasps who like to build small nests on the corners of the garage door. (This is an old-school door that you open by hand.) It makes me dread banging the door when I have to use it. However, once we get a few frosts, I can just go out there and knock them off and into the yard waste bins without fear. I actually wish I didn't have to kill them. Some wasps are parasitic and kill garden pests like caterpillars. But that doesn't make them any more pleasant when they're racing at one's face.
Hey, Kids! My "Cranky and Kitschy" collage art is now viewable on ipernity! Drop by and tell me that I sent you. *updated often!*

...or they are planning an elaborate misdirection campaign. They will take over the house, while you will have a tiny hammock suspended from the roof.

No wasp sightings in awhile. Temps dipping into the 30 apparently too chilly even for partially invulnerable local wasps!
