Still, I think that Dick changing his name to Nightwing was a great idea to underscore his independence.

Imagine he progressed into being Batman...
Gordon: Thanks for answering the Bat-Signal. Batman: Octogenarian Joker is loose. I had to come. Gordon: But it's winter and very cold for wearing those shorty shorts Batman. Batman: I'm calling them Bat-Trunks actually. Gordon: Riiiight...

I just want to hear Gary Oldman say "shorty shorts" now.

Better Bart Simpson that Judd Nelson in "The Breakfast Club".

The Breakast Club is one of those John Hughes movies I need to see, especially since I love National Lampoon's Vacation and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

I find Ferris' snarky, carefree attitude to be oddly endearing, but my favorite character in the movie is Cameron.

I sometimes forget Cameroon when naming African countries.

I always remember it when grouped together with Central African Republic, the two Congos, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

I want to punch Ferris Bueller repeatedly, but I like the Breakfast Club. Someone told me that they are both set at the same school. Something else else to do with a banner appearing on the walls of Ferris' school with the same name as the front of The Breakfast Club. No detention for Ferris!

You'd just get Saturday Morning detention with Molly Ringwald. Is it worth that?

It's interesting that both the '50s and the '80s have become considered idealized times for being a teenager in the United States, but the generations to which such people belong, the Silents and GenX, respectively, are both overshadowed by the surrounding generations in popular culture.

In that past century, there's been a trend of every 30 years being treated as a time of "idealization and general prosperity/happiness"
"Roaring 1920's" Post-WWII 1950's Reagan-era 1980's
Do we consider the 2010's to be such a time?

The funny thing is that, as someone who lived through the '80s, albeit as a teenager, I don't remember it is all that great.

In the HR and people management realms, people make a big to-do about generational differences all the time. Clients often ask me for my perspective as a Gen Y/millennial. Frankly though, if you distill our desires down to te basic level they are the same as any other - economic security and fulfillment.

That's pretty much what it comes down to for everyone. I don't think these "generational" constructs are quite as useful as many people would think. The definitions seem to vary according to what is best for the author's needs.

I represent the Codgers Generation. You can be of any age you like to be part of this generation. It isn't ageist like the others.
All you need to do is be able to convincingly say "I remember when I were a lad/lass..." and ramble on about something you feel just isn't the same as it used to be.

I qualify. I talk about things that my younger cousins don't recognize, like pagers and dial up Internet.
