I saw Scarface when I was quite young. Or rather, I saw a little of it, but heard some of the rest. I think my jaw dropped at the amount of swearing.

I saw it a few years ago. I think my jaw dropped at the amount of swearing. That's pretty much what I remember it for.

I was fortunate to be able to see Scarface on the big screen when it received a limited 20th Anniversary re-release in 2003. On the small screen, it felt rather bombastic, but on the big screen it was remarkable.

Swearing in movies can be fine but not when every line of dialogue has it. Wolf of Wall street was pretty bad in that regard.

I don't mind the odd swear word, but gratuitous swearing really annoys me. I read this book once where the author repeatedly used the vulgar term for excrement just for shock value. It was awful.

In fiction I think it's an acceptable form of characterization. But i also don't find it enjoyable.

The book in question was nonfiction, which made it somewhat inappropriate.

Ah. Using swearing to drive the occasional point home is fine, but unless the piece of work is a satire or comedy writing I agree it would be terrible. And even then, good writers should not rely on swearing to make things funny.

Swearing in dialogue is often compared to a spice in a dish: if you use it in moderation, it can make a sentence savory. However, if you use too much, the sentence is too spicy and unpalatable.

That works. On the other hand, I do occasionally enjoy a nice vindaloo.

I sometimes miss renting an apartment. Owning is a lot of responsibility.

I lived in a rented house when I was working in L.A. It was quite comfortable. I did appreciate having to deal with the landlord for many concerns, although her lack of responsiveness proved irritating at times.

One thing that I hate about traveling is dealing with customs when arriving in a new country.

And how.

I also hate that I have to use up precious vacation time making personal appearances at embassies. And the mounds of paperwork i need to accomplish....

In LMB lore, the Rookery has the status of an Embassy because it is the official Pyngwyny mission on Legion World. This has allowed it to serve as neutral ground when needed.
