Fairly straightforward, which of the Original Three is your Favorite?
All you need is Love (and a whole big bucket of Money).

The current favorite all-time Legionnaire poll got me thinking. I know there are some people here with very definite opinions about these characters. I don't REMEMBER this poll being done before.
I voted for Ol Iron-Butt!

I'm not a huge fan of the founders for some reason. But Saturn Girl wins this for me by far. She is in my top fave female members. (Vi, Shadow Lass, Phantom Girl beat her out though)

I can't pick one. I love all three of them, and the interaction between them is my favorite thing, more than any one of them individually.
The sum here is way more than the parts.

Some people assume I'm a die-hard Rokk fan (probably because of my Legion of Camelot fanfic), but I'm hard-pressed to pick between him and Garth; they balance each other well.
I voted for Imra instead.
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

Yeah, I went with Cos. Call me wacky, call me crazy, call me Republican (just call me!).
I always thought Cos was actually one of THE coolest Legionnaires when I was a kid, and the Shooter/Grell story where he went to rescue his teammates even when his religion wouldn't let him use his super powers for the day really sold me. Although the latest versions have been less than flattering, his character still holds a fond place in my heart.

My Man Cos. I still remember "What do you do on the day after Doomsday?" And "Legion code be damned". That story made me a fan of Rokk in the Levitz era. I agree with Kid Quiselt that current versions have been lacking but, Im hoping Mr. Shooter can flesh him out when he returns from the 41st Century.

TMK is what really did it for me, though numerous other occassions in Legion history also helped (Levitz gave him some good scenes, the entire reboot, etc.).

I chose Saturn Girl as my favorite Legionnaire in the other poll, but I chose Cosmic Boy as my favorite founder. Contadictory? Perhaps. Here is my rationale. Saturn Girl is a more well rounded and original character. She is unique in the world of comics and is multi-layered character who has been fascinating in a number of settings. Cosmic Boy may not be as interesting, complex, or dynamic as Imra, but his strongest qualities have always revolved around his being a founder. He is the foundation and the heart of the Legion. His role as founder in chief is pretty much as well established as Robin's/Nightwing's role as leader of the Titans. The Legion just wouldn't work without Rokk as a founder.

I've been a Cos fan ever since I laid eyes on the bustier!
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

Didn't hesitate to cast my ballot on this one. Garth all the way! First Legionnaire to give his life in service to the team (to save the woman he loved no less)! Only founder to not have powers at birth. His swift response to Imra's call for help on the day they saved Brande's life was instrumental in the rescue. He's not a thinker or a U.P. stooge, he's a man of action and a protector to anyone in need! Besides, any guy who can overcome the first impression of a beautiful blonde telepath who appeared to be repulsed by his crude thoughts and wind up marrying her is like a god in my book!

Anyone remember those Legion Spotlight issues of yesteryear? When they focussed on Cos and showed him using his magnetism in creative ways, he really impressed me. Isn't that also the issue where he used those discs on his costume too?
Still, I voted for Imra. Her "quiet" power amid the big guns wins me over.

My favorite Imra moment was during the Universo Project, when she looked at Ultra Boy and Mon-El, both about to kill her at Universo's command, and shut them down hard. Awesome.

I am a fan of all three, but I will have to go with Saturn Girl I guess. But Cosmic Boy & Lightning Lad aren't far behind!

I voted for Lightning Lad, who . . .
. . . has by far the most interesting and exciting power -- hurling lightning bolts!
. . . wore a cape in the Adventure era.
. . . got one of the most eye-catching costumes of the Cockrum era, a version of which is still used in the cartoon today.
. . . had a robot arm for some of his existence.
. . . got to marry the first girl he ever fell in love with.
. . . had emotional appeal as the "unluckiest Legionnaire."
. . . was easy to identify with because of his sibling rivalry with Mekt and/or Ayla.
. . . was the last founder to become leader in the original continuity and the first leader to resign (okay, nobody's perfect).
. . . became a devoted family man after retiring from the Legion, which shows that being a hero wasn't his only priority.
. . . has managed to maintain his essential identity through various reboots and alterations.
. . . has a first name that begins with the letter "G" -- as does mine!

Probably Lightning Lad. I think they have done the most with his personality in all it's forms.
Cosmic Boy is kind of straightforward. Although I loved he was the time-trapper. (I'm sure I'm the only one--great twist)
Saturn Girl is real interesting but she seems to dissapear from the stories for months on end at times.
There is no better Super Hero group to have ever been in comics than the Legion of Super Heroes.

Saturn Girl.... Easily She was telling the boys who was boss and kicking butt when all the other ladies in comics were constantly attempting to trick their men into revealing their secret identities so that they would be forced into marriage, and so that the woman could quit her job as a reporter and become a homemaker.

I think we should close the poll right now. We, fittingly, have a three way tie.
