I think he's been active on Facebook, Emily. He seems to be fine. I'll send him a message there.

I'm not sure what you mean by "we're all tied up again"? What's the elimination/advancement format again?

Each of the active players has won one match. So we need at least one more match to eliminate 1 to 2 players. Then I think we will be heading into the Semi-Finals.

Per Power Boy's suggestion that everyone agreed to, we are doing 2 out of 3 matches because we have an uneven number of players. The first player(s) to lose two matches will be eliminated.

Thanks. And the best 2 out of 3 will apply in the semi finals?

That will probably depend on whether or not we have even numbers. If we have even numbers, it will be one match per round.

Next Round Matches

1) thoth lad vs. Emily Sivana

2) Blacula vs. Power Boy

Invisible Brainic gets to sit out this round.

Next is a Daredevil Challenge Match! As the name implies, this involves an additional challenge in addition to a fight. This may test your team's intelligence, morality, organizational skills, or all three.

The location of this match is in a SHIELD Training Facility and has been set up by Daredevil's good friend, Spider-Man. The scenario is that another superteam has been kidnapped and brainwashed by the Purple Man. The direction of the scenario is as follows:

Essential Information

1) All teams are given ten minutes of preparation to study the opposing super-team. Each team begins on opposite sides of the warehouse.
2) Upon entering the warehouse, you must first fight the other superteam.
3) Moral Challenge: Leave the people behind and gain 10 minutes of preparation time against the opposing team or take the extra characters with you.
4) Fight and Defeat the Purple Man, who tells you Bullseye is holding a woman hostage. He also tells you the opposing team is in league with him.
5) Moral Challenge: Save the woman or Avoid Bullseye. If you choose to avoid Bullseye, the Purple Man will give you information about the opposing team, giving you 15 minutes to prepare for them to arrive. This can be combined with the previous 10 minutes of time, which would give you over half an hour to prepare.
6) Fight and defeat the opposing team.

I am using a random generator to determine the superteam each of us will be facing. I selected four DC teams and four Marvel teams.

Please Read
thoth lad: The Teen Titans (Wolfman/Perez '80s roster, no Terra or Jericho)
Emily Sivana: The West Coast Avengers (another '80s roster)
Blacula: Infinity Inc ('80s roster before the Crisis)
Power Boy: Agents of Atlas

Please PM or submit all your strategies to this thread by August 9, 2015 at 3:00 PM Central Time. Any player who fails to make this deadline by the end of this time-frame without notice loses the match by default.

This is the strategy I received from thoth lad:
~~~~
I think the Titans have a higher points total than my team 
I hope I read this correctly, Emily, but I’m sure you’ll come back to me if I’ve confused super teams/opponents during a stage.
The team hook up with Amazo’s telepathic links.
Kid Flash is always first into battle. Always. He is always the first to get hit/shot/electrocuted by whatever villain appeared that month in the Titans. He’s also slowing down because using his super speed is killing him. So, he’s not in the same league as Barry Allen. Which makes him Amazo fodder. Once done Amazo slips underground using intangibility and flies to the opposing team at super speed.
The Titans also used to get buried underneath buildings a lot. Perez loved to draw that, and then draw Starfire or Wonder Girl breaking free. So, who am I to disappoint. Ambrose Chase brings the roof of this side of the warehouse down on their heads, using his gravity/mass powers. As soon as he does this, Vanisher teleports the controlled kids safely to the other side of the city.
Since they’re no longer in the battle it looks as though I’m leaving the kids behind (safely though) for 3)
Jo’s Penetra-vision spots Purple Man easily enough and he flies off at super speed to render him unconscious. Purple’s a bit out of his depth against Ultra Boy who hits him before he can control anything. Jo also chooses to save the woman. That’s what heroes do, even if it means losing in a contest (Superboy always told his adventures to his friends from the future).
Using that telepathic link, he lets Vanisher and Ambrose know where Bullseye can be found. Once done, Jo also keeps going. But where Amazo had stealth, Jo just knocks down everything in sight on his way to the other side of the warehouse. He’s the decoy for the opposing team.
Bullseye thinks his reflexes are just as sharp, his weapons just as deadly. But he’s trapped in a temporal field and being crushed by huge gravitational forces as Ambrose is teleported in by Vanisher.
Regardless of the prep time gained, the tactic is a simple one. At the first opportunity Amazo uses a combination of Manhunter’s invisibility and intangibility to rise from the ground. He then adds Zatanna’s magic to make them all forget their identities and sleep. His android brain should be resistant to Quire’s psionics.
As all my characters with the exception of Nightshade are from the Marvel Universe, most of them have at least a passing knowledge of their opponents. They share this information with Nightshade, dig a bit into the SHIELD files, and form a strategy before they enter the warehouse.
Adam Warlock quickly flies ahead to hold off Wonder Man, the heaviest hitter on the other team. Stature shrinks down to size and leaps on Iron Man's shoulder, providing distraction so that Quentin Quire can begin a mental assault. I see no indication that the Silver Centurion armor contains telepathic shielding, so this should be sufficient enough to takedown Rhodey.
Meanwhile, Magma, as one of the team's main ranged characters, is assigned to handle Hawkeye. She can easily burn through or disable his normal arrows. He uses some Freeze Arrows, which disorientate her, but just as Hawkeye throws a Tear Gas Arrow, she manages to shake the ground under his feet before she passes out.
Nightshade makes easy work of Mockingbird and Tigra, because it is hard to hit things one cannot see. Her dark constructs should be enough to take them both out. She then turns her attention to the Adam Warlock vs. Wonder Man battle. Adam gives the signal for her to intervene. Nightshade teleports behind Wonder Man and then teleports him to the Land of Shadows.
Once they come to their senses, the West Coast Avengers offer to help, but Adam Warlock tells them that it is best to wait here so that the Purple Man doesn't take control of them again. They reluctantly stay behind. Besides, the Purple Man is grossly out-numbered and out-gunned by my usual team. Quentin Quire immediately shields everyone, and Adam Warlock easily knocks the Purple Man out. They also decide to save the woman from Bullseye. Nightshade envelopes the team in darkness, they quickly surround Bulleyes, she drops the darkness, and they dogpile him before he can even throw one knife.
As they approach the other team, they look at each other in confusion. Only Magma recognizes any of the characters, and that's only because she learned about him from Xavier back in her New Mutant days. Quentin Quire quickly forms the telepathic links.
"Look out!" Magma shouts. They look up to see a strange looking being flying about them.
It's a robot, Quentin quickly relays.
Vanished teleports behind him, "Always take out the telepath first." His combat/espionage training make quick work of Quentin Quire.
His teammates barely have time to react when the robot begins firing heat vision beams at them. Adam Warlock takes to the skies, and Magma follows him to provide support. They manage to do a bit of damage before the robot becomes intangible. The robot then regains tangible form and charges at Adam Warlock. The energy being senses that this being has superhuman strength that matches his own, and decides to teleport into space. Of course, this also removes Adam Warlock from the rest of the match.
Magma doesn't have a chance to catch her breath, as a green being whizzes by her, and begins to fight with her. He appears to be invulnerable to any of her ranged attacks, so she decides to fain that she is overpowered and descends to the floor. The man in green follows her, at which point she uses all her remaining power and energy to lunge at him. Ultra Boy struggles to maintain both super-strength and invulnerability, which results in some nasty third degree burns and he collapses out of exhaustion.
Magma then returns to her normal form. She turns her head to see that the Vanisher is on the ground, and then Nightshade teleports beside her.
"What happened to Stature? And that last man on the other team?" Magma asked.
Nightshade said, "Vanisher took aim at Stature, so she shrank down. I haven't seen her since. I don't know about that other--"
They suddenly feel themselves being pulled from the ground by an unknown power. Magma looks down to see it is the last member on the other team. Nightshade immediately uses her shadow constructs, only for them to be deflected.
Magma thought aloud, "What did you do to Stature?"
The other member looked confused, "I didn't--" He doesn't have time to finish his sentence before a giant hand swoops down and picks up the last opponent. They hear a huge crash as both the roof and floor crash simultaneously.
"Do you surrender?" Stature asked.
"But if I drop your friends, we win," The opponent points out.
Stature said, "If I drop you from a high height, it is a tie."
At that point, he begrudgingly surrenders.
The next round will be delayed by 24 hours in order to allow time for Power Boy to respond as to whether or not he is continuing with the Tournament. If he leaves, Blacula is winner of his match by default.
This Tournament is delayed until I get a response from Power Boy. If I get no response by next Monday, Blacula wins by default and we move on to the next round. No voting would be required as we will have even numbers if Power Boy has to drop out.
As I have received no response from Power Boy, he loses this round by default. According to my calculations, since he lost two matches he lost the Tournament. He is free to challenge this ruling, but for the time being we must move on.
The Semi-Finals
This match will be a Standard Match, which means it is a fight in a neutral, arena setting. There is no preparation time. I chose this match as it will clearly highlight the fighting skills of the remaining opponents and it allows me to save the best ideas for the Final Round.
The Matches Are As Follows:
Emily Sivana vs. Invisible Brainiac
Blacula vs. thoth lad
Please submit your strategies to me by next Monday at 8:30 A.M Central Time. I also want to reiterate that if you cannot make the match to please let me know personally and directly and I will work with you. Otherwise, I will have to enforce the rules and you will lose the match by default. Believe me, I want to accommodate everyone, but I also cannot afford long delays.
I think that's fair, Emily, thanks.
As we have even numbers now, I guess two players will be eliminated in the semi-finals?
I'm going to delay the need for a response by 24 hours to give Invisible Brainiac and thoth lad a chance to post.
thoth lad, if you have any objections to your opponent's strategy. please say so in this thread.
Blacula's Strategy
Team Thoth Lad
Amazo - 50 points
Vanisher- 35 points
Ultra Boy- 35 points (with flight ring)
Ambrose Chase- 30 points
Team Blacula
Flash (Barry Allen) 45
Atom (Ray Palmer) 35
Deadman (Boston Brand) 20
Mento (Steve Dayton) 20
Celsius (Arani Caulder) 20
Karate Kid (Val Armor) 10
The two teams enter the arena, each member eyeing their opponent warily. While Karate Kid stretches his limbs and Vanisher practices some vocal exercises, the Flash removes a telegram from his glove. He unfolds the piece of paper and begins to read aloud to the gathered combatants and spectators, "To the citizens of Earth: It is with great sadness I hereby disband the Justice League. Signed, Superman."
Amazo suddenly finds himself feeling weak as the powers he derives from members of the Justice League all drain out of him. As a powerless robot he is unable to contribute anything when the fight starts.
Which it does moments later. Team Blacula spreads quickly to prevent Vanisher from targeting more than one of them with his portals.
While the Flash keeps Vanisher busy, chasing him around the arena and leaving after-images of himself in his wake to confuse his opponent, Deadman invisibly floats himself over and into Ambrose Chase to take control of his body.
Meanwhile, Mento assaults Ultra Boy's mind, keeping him off-balance and forcing him to the ground where Karate Kid easily incapacitates his erstwhile teammate.
If Ambrose Chase is somehow able to overcome Deadman's control, I have another secret weapon supremely capable of handling a physics-using character - a trained physicist! The Atom uses his decades of professional training and genius in the field of physics to ignore or overcome his opponent's abilities and get close enough to land the knock-out punch.
And while all that's going on, I have still another character able to put out any spot fires that pop up - Celsius. If Batman accidentally reforms the Justice League somewhere while the fight is happening and reactivates Amazo, she's there to incapacitate him in an inferno of flames (which he is vulnerable to since he gains the weaknesses as well as abilities of the Justice League when he copies their powers, and Martian Manhunter is a perennial member).
My characters walk into the arena with uncertain expressions. Only Nightshade recognizes any of the other opponents, and once the match is called, she begins to direct her shadow constructs at Martian Manhunter. Fortunately, Quentin Quire prevents him from using any psychic attacks. Unfortunately, his other abilities make it difficult for her to do much damage. It is a perpetual stalemate as neither opponent can get very close to each other.
Meanwhile, Magma touches the ground and opens a crack of lava to separate the arena in half, so they have a defense. Adam Warlock senses the power in Kinetix and decides to disarm her. She tries to telekinetically keep him away, but his Quantum Magic is greater than her power and he easily knocks her out. Unfortunately, Gates sees that Adam Warlock is a threat and teleports him off the battlefield.
Magma sees that Gates took out Adam Warlock and flies to take out Gates. Now, Gates is insectsoid in nature, and we know that insects are weak to fire. I believe Magma could easily take out Gates. If Gates were to try to teleport away or teleport with her, he exits the match as well.
Kid Quantum may slow down the battles, but she is still vulnerable to physical attacks. Stature could turn into giant form and squash her before she becomes a true threat.
Stature and Magma (if she is still on the field) work together to help Nightshade deal with Martian Manhunter. Quentin Quire telepathically tells Stature to shrink down, shrink back up, and then insert a fist in Martian Manhunter.
Quentin Quire telepathically tells Martian Manhunter, If you resume corporal form, you will be severely injured.
The opponent sighed, I concede defeat
Being careful not to read Emily's post on her strategy, here is what I have come up with. I am also not that familiar with Marvel characters in general, so please let me know if I made any mistakes with how these characters are portrayed.
Strategy
Careful to clear their minds, the Martian Manhunter, Gates, Kinetix and Kid Quantum II link their minds and enter the arena. No prep time was given, so J'Onn quickly does a surface scan of his opponents - all he needs is information on powers, and he gets them fast. At the speed of thought, the team acts:
1) Martian Manhunter turns intangible to protect himself (especially from Magma!) while sending a telepathic bolt into Adam Warlock's mind, enough to stagger the powerful man. He then turns his attention to stalemating Quentin Quire.
2) Gates quickly buys time by sending the dazed Adam Warlock off the field to the other side of the planet. He then stalemates the other teleporter Nightshade; as Eve attacks, Gates slows her down with his own teleport disks by teleporting her shadows away.
3) Kid Quantum lets loose a barrage of quantum bubbles, slowing down Magma and Stature before either can reach her with their attacks. She ignores Magma for now as the latter has already started calling forth lava, and Stature for now as she has already started growing. She knows she will have a few more minutes.
4) Kinetix aids Gates. While Eve is starting to throw shadows at Gates, Kinetix uses her psychokinesis to keep Eve off-balance. Of course, Eve is a skilled fighter and she has probably already worn Gates down. She blasts him back even as Kinetix enters the fray.
Tally:
MM and Quentin Quire stalemating each other;
Adam Warlock off the field for a few minutes;
Gates down;
Stature and Magma in stasis for a few minutes;
Nightshade vs. Kinetix
Kinetix is just managing to snag and distract Nightshade as Eve attempts to run through her portals. Suddenly, Eve stands frozen in time - Kid Quantum has her. "Go help J'Onn!" she tells Zoe. Kid Q quickly knocks Nightshade out.
"I'm stronger than you!" Quentin yells as he rages at J'Onn.
"Debatable. And you are not more experienced," J'Onn replies. Before Quentin can retort, Kinetix slams some debris into him, knocking him out.
"Good work. Now let's remove the other two before Adam Warlock returns." As Kid Quantum drops her quantum field, J'Onn quickly zaps Magma's mind while Kinetix slams Stature backwards.
"Nice try, but you still have me to deal with." Adam Warlock swoops down from the sky and tackles J'Onn, who manages to phase. Adam realizes what he's up against and slams into Kid Quantum - the next biggest threat - before her teammates can react. Before she gets knocked out though, she manages to trigger a last quantum bubble. With Kid Quantum falling unconscious, it only lasts a few seconds, but it is enough.
The Martian Manhunter quickly slams into Adam Warlock's mind while remaining intangible. He presses the attack with Martian vision, and Kinetix backs him up with her psychokinesis. It's a long fight, but eventually the two overpower Adam.
As the contest begins…
My team vanish.
A moment later, they appear high overhead, Jo’s Flash vision blasting the arena and Ambrose slowing time down across it too.
Amazo combines the strength of a Canary cry with Zatanna’s magic to make the opposing team fall asleep. The arena audience, also within earshot of a super cry, fall asleep too. Amazo’s Martian telepathy keeps them all that way.
It’s a simple strategy, with the critical thing being to keep out of Barry Allen’s way for just a moment.
The moment where the opposing team realise where the group have gone to, should be all the time it takes for Zatanna powers to finish things off. Her magic will handily work on Deadman too. If Boston can’t sleep, he’ll not be able to possess Amazo and a further Zatanna spell to make him forget he was ever Deadman should take care of him.
Jo’s flash vision at the start has the advantage of preventing some of the opponents immediately using their powers (possibly even taking them out of the contest), particularly Mento, but also really excites all those atoms Mr Palmer may have shrunk into, sending him all over the place.
The Final Match Scenario
Thoth Lad vs. Invisible Brainiac
Congratulations on making it to the Final Match of the Tournament! This is going to involve both challenges and preparation time. The location of this match is in Central City, home of The Flash!
Each team starts at separate ends of Central City. First, they will each face three of Flash's Classic Rogues:
Thoth Lad: Mirror Master, Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang
Invisible Brainiac: Weather Wizard, Heatwave, Trickster
After defeating each team, they will head towards the Flash Museum to defeat the opposing team.
Each team has 48 hours of preparation time. This means that the characters on your team can research strategies and bring any equipment/weapons that they could realistically obtain within 48 hours.
Submissions are due by Monday, September 14th at 6:00 P.M Central Time. Please talk to me directly if you need extra time.
