In the words of Squirrel Girl, “Nuts.”

I was one of the few enjoying Justice League United, even after the semi-reboot around issue #10.

Some have complained about the constantly changing makeup of the team; to me, it seemed the former members were still there, just off-screen, waiting for their callback.

Villains and heroes together, as in much of DC now, but the villains seemed more heroic, rather than the heroes seeming more villainous, as elsewhere, at least temporarily.

I have been waiting to see just what Equinox ends up as. I have been waiting to see just what her powers are, besides “everything”.

I liked Big Hulking Etrigan.

I have been considering picking up #13 off the internet, as I have not been able to find it out here in First World. I am kind of a Luddite as far as books are concerned; I like the feel and smell of ink and paper, and eventually, dust and bookmold.

Now, why bother?

And let me say, the mini-rebooted JLUnited was tending toward weird in the way Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol tended toward weird.

I mean that in a good way.

DC seems to cancel their JLA spinoff team books very regularly beginning early with the New 52 JLI book, then the JLA book and now JL United. In each case I find it hard to believe that these were bottom-sellers. I think maybe they cancelled each after sales on each plateaued to sales being "just" good, so they could make room for the next one to be launched and provide an initial sales boom. Then, rinse and repeat.

I suppose it's the same concept as all of Marvel's continuous relaunches of all their Avengers and X-Men books (and, really, all of their line, now). Honestly, we may never see another Marvel issue 100 (or anything even close, except when they do a gimmick like the upcoming X-Men 600) in the remainder of our lifetimes.

I'd have to check, but I'm sure DCFU JLI was a solid mid-level book at something like 40k. It wasn't cancelled for sales reasons.

My views are my own and do not reflect those of everyone else... and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Yeah, I seem to remember the various fan-newssites being baffled by its cancellation. I think my theory is probably right.

I was a little surprised at this list.
I read the first few issues of Omega Men - it started weird but developed into an interesting potential with #3.
Picked up JLU with the Legion crossover and stayed with it. I was waiting for it to hit it's stride.

I kinda think Paladin is right with the reading of these publishing choices. It what turned me off Marvel, and now I guess it'll turn me away from a lot of DC.

Sigh.

By the way, I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds Equinox's abilities less than clear.

There was an article awhile ago called “Why You Hate Comcast” which argues that the companies people hate most: power companies, telephone carriers, ISPs, cable companies, HMOs, and airlines—all have one thing in common.

http://www.slate.com/articles/busin...americans_hate_isps_cable_companies.html

They don’t actually offer services you want: they are merely companies set up to PREVENT you from getting services you want.

“You don’t want cable; you want Game of Thrones. You don’t want broadband Internet; you want cat videos. You don’t want 4G wireless service; you want to stream a video of a cat meowing the Game of Thrones theme on your iPhone.”

You don’t want DC. You want the talent DC hires, and, more than occasionally, fires. You want your Legion. But DC is standing in the way of you from having your Legion, from letting anyone write any more Legion.

This seems to be more and more the DC and Marvel way.

Do the sales on each relaunch reach the same heights or is there a feeling of gradually diminishing returns?

I didn't until you mentioned it. But now... smile

From my look at all the sneak peeks, I'm not distraught at there being no Legion at present. I'd like to have a good relaunch, but I have no faith that it would be readable.

Good points about the services Sue Pergirl.

#13 was pretty good too. Sgt. Rock, Enemy Ace, Vandal Savage, Robotman, all presented in a fun way.

I keep waiting for one day some executive at Warner Bros to spend an hour or two reading about all the things DC has done over the last decade, and all the outright failures it's had and is like "whaaaaaaa?".

And then fires everyone and cancels half the series.

Sales continue to be atrocious. I don't read Marvel, and haven't heard great things about the Secret Wars event, but despite that, they've now doubled DC's market share (partly due to Star Wars, but still a serious drubbing). DC's last stalwart, Batman, was muscled out of the top 10 this month. Most of the relaunched titles are crashing hard towards less than 10K sales. How much longer before something gives?

Hopefully not too much longer.

(Rubs hands)

At long last, the Warner Bros executives have a legitimate business reason for firing the idiots who have been in charge at DC since 2003.

grin
