The Americanised version of Science Ninja Team Gatchaman was Battle of the Planets. When I was a kid I was given a sort of disc projecting tie in toy. The object was that upon firing, if you put enough spin into it, the disc would fly out and return to you(presumably after killing umpteen henchmen, although classmates proved reluctant to test this.)

So I have a memory of being in a large yard of an old school with high walls practicing using the toy. Why I had it in school, I've no idea. A little breeze really helped. Thinking about it in today's world, I should add it looked nothing like a gun. "It's a ninja death star thrower, Sir." "Oh, that's all right then li'l thoth."

Shuriken Accelerate, Piercing Boring Mornings.

Share a fond memory of a film seen when you were a child.

One of the first movies I ever watched was Chipmunk Adventure. I loved the idea of being able to travel the world. I'm trying to live that dream now...

SAPBM,

Which superhero would you like to meet in real life? And how would you spend a day with them?

Ma "Red Tornado" Hunkle. I would spend the day listening to all her stories of adventure.

I used to want to be a theater actor. I'm a terrible dancer though, and I don't think I'm a particularly talented singer.

SAPBM,

Same question.

The Boston Subway opened on September 1, 1897 and was the first lasting subway in North America. It consisted of just 4 stops.

When I was working over the holidays as a youngster, we used to have to take waste boxes and scrap out to a compactor.

It was something we did towards the end of a night shift and we'd get to watch the dawn come up (no windows inside) and it was really nice start to the day/ end of a shift.

Being limited to one thing that annoys me wink

More serious answer. When walking down a hall or stairs or a sidewalk that is only wide enough for two people. Coming towards me is a couple walking side by side. Instead of going single file, the couple stays together. They may squeeze in a bit, but that still requires me to squeeze by them. It seems rude to me. But then as a person who is usually (99% of the time) by myself, maybe I don't quite get the need to remain side by side.

SAPBM,

What was the last thing a total stranger complimented you on?

I actually had two different strangers at different times compliment my Golden Age Flash T-shirt on the same day.

A nurse complimented me on my tush as she was giving me a shot. It's wasn't the "last" compliment I received from a stranger but I really wanted to tell that story. grin

SAPBM

Whens the last time YOU complimented a stranger (that you weren't also trying to pick-up).

I remember coming back from a study trip abroad and sitting next to this young girl from Beijing. I complimented her on her English, and we had a nice chat - me with my basic Mandarin and she with her fairly good English.

That would be Red Tornado. First, I love strong winds, so his power is one I would like. I also like that he is an android. I liked him before the Tornado Tyrant/Champion retro origin and I though this retro origin was cool. I even liked him as the silent clunky version in Primal Force.

A strawberry milkshake. It's hot as hell outside and I wouldn't mind one right now.

SAPBM,
What was food you ate a lot as a kid but hated?

Ma just could not make good fried chicken. Never had the heart to say anything. Rule was, if we put it on the plate, we had to eat it. Brussels Sprouts? No problem. Don't put them on the plate. But in our meat eating household, there was no way to avoid the chicken without giving up the secret.

Baguio City, Summer Capital of the Philippines. Much coole r weather than in the capital. I could wear a jacket without sweating. Perfect for hot soup and chocolate. Loved the strawberries, scent of pines, playing with dandelions, hiking trails, and roasting hotdogs on the fire.

SAPBM,

Same question, but you can tell us about a vacation as an adult if you want

When I was young we went to Newfound Lake a couple of times. Once, my aunt, uncle, and cousins came with us. While there we would go to the Polar Caves which was great fun. I remember all of us kids walking down to get some soft served ice cream in the evening. We would also walk to a near by store where we would buy candy and comic books. Someone was trying to teach us kids how to water ski, but I was too scared to try.

SAPBM,

I am going to visit your area for a week. Where should I go and what should I see?

I recommend you visit Intramuros, the walled city from the Spanish era. There is a nice old Fort, and a museum called Bahay Tsinoy (translation: Chinese-filipino House) about the history of the Chinese-Filipinos in the Philippines.

If you like shopping there are tons of malls and shops. Mall of Asia or SM North EDSA are quite big. Bonifacio Global City has SM Aura and High Street, with tons of restaurants.

Of course, I will take you around wink

Many day trip or weekend trip options too - Puerto Galera is a fairly nice beach (and has a high concentration of gay men). Boracay is much more famous and has nicer sand. Mount Pinatubo or Taal Volcano if you like that sort of thing. Baguio City for cooler weather and pine trees. Corregidor has remnants ofa US base and was the site of fierce fighting during World War II.

I would recommend -

3 days for one of the beaches
2 days in the capital
2 days for one other trip

SAPBM,

I'm visiting you for dinner. What dinner will we have?

As a lazy college student, my cooking repertoire is fairly limited. However, I would treat you to my catfish fried rice if you ever stop by. tongue It's made with catfish, mixed vegetables, egg, and my special blend of sauces and spices.

SAPBM,

Whoa sounds great!

I'll treat you to some of my better dishes - cream of squash, (pick 2) beef tacos with salsa, sweet and sour pork, chicken in peach sauce or shrimp gambas, and some Japanese-style fried rice.

SAPBM,

Earth, wind, water or fire?
