So for years now there's been a battle between YOUR LOVE IS KING and WHEN AM I GONNA MAKE A LIVING for title of best song on Sade's debut album... a winner has been decided at long last!
LUKA? Yeah, I vaguely recall that song... but I have Suzanne Vega's albums that came after that one, DAYS OF OPEN HAND and 99.9 F DEGREES. Both are excellent and odd... and TIRED OF SLEEPING hits close to home these days...
One of the most beautiful yet creepy songs ever, I first heard DELIVER ME as performed by the slightly menacing yet undeniably sexy The Beloved on their X cd.
A couple years later I discovered SARAH BRIGHTMAN\'s version, and find it equally beautiful and creepy! Her voice... WOW.
Sometimes I miss club tunes of the 90s. Good stuff. KLF was huge in the clubs about 90-91. This was my favorite. The KLF ADORED Tammy Wynette and evidence of that is all there. Plus it has to be an early if not the first example of rap/club music meets country music.
I don't usually regret giving things away but I do regret giving my CD single of this song to a friend who loved Tammy Wynette and never heard of this song.
UPDATE: Now that I'm a YouTube pro, I no longer regret giving away this CD single.
the version I knew first. I think the singer for THE BELOVED has such a haunting beautiful voice. I love him BUT Sarah, y'know? I love Sarah so much too I can't pick a favorite version. It may be this one. He's great.
