In the early 90s Flash TV show, they paired up Barry Allen with Tina McGee from the Wally West supporting cast, which was a bit weird, but I liked both of the actors playing them. If only the show itself had been better.

Wally West had a pretty rich supporting cast back in the day. So did Superman, in Metropolis.

I find Superman much more interesting as the Big Blue Boy Scout with limited powers.

On the other hand, I prefer the pre-Crisis God-like Superman.

The Silver Age Superman comics were actually quite popular with female readers at the time. Legion and Supergirl I can appreciate, but the Supes/Lois/Lana thing, no.

It was a bit like Archie/Betty/Veronica.

Yeah, but Archie/Betty/Veronica were teens acting like teens. Supes/Lois/Lana was adults acting like pre-schoolers. IMO.

True that. It was much more appropriate for Archie comics than for a Superman comic.

I'm with Stalgie on this one. I have a soft spot in my heart for the nigh-omnipotent Silver Age Superman.

Like many other gay men, I had a crush on Superman growing up. I still do, truth be told.

Of the actors who have played Superman, I would rate John Haymes Newton the hottest, followed by Henry Cavill, Chris Reeve, Gerard Christopher, Brandon Routh, Dean Cain, and Tom Welling, in that order.

Archie Andrews must have had some superpower on par with Starfox from the Eighties Avengers. I mean, he was a colorless, ineffectual dink and yet two very desirable girls fought over him all the time. I could never understand it.

The checkerboard pattern shaved into Archie's hair was the secret of his appeal to Betty and Veronica.

I never understood why Archie would never just choose Betty. Veronica was too shallow. shrug

Maybe Archie was greedy and coveted Veronica's fortune?

Perhaps Archie was secretly evil and planned to marry her for her money and then kill her to completely take her fortunate and estate? shocked

FL, maybe he was Cindy Lauper's inspiration for that one early look she had...?

NL, maybe shallow guys like shallow girls. They were like the early versions of Steve Dallas and Quiche Lorraine from Bloom County.

I'd never thought of that, but it makes perfect sense. Maybe Archie also shared his fellow freckled redhead Jimmy Olsen's penchant for drag, which was how Cyndi Lauper got the idea. lol
