Bugs Bunny is still a favorite character of mine.

Looking at the cartoons in chronological order, I stopped liking Bugs Bunny after Chuck Jones modified his personality, taking away the playfulness and replacing it with smugness.

Yes. I prefer our "heroes" to be inherently "heroic".

Bugs was never really a hero, though, he was more of a fly in the ointment, a spanner in the works, an x-factor.

On many occasions though, he only "declared war" after being grievously offended or even endangered.

I preferred him as a prankster.

The prankster archetype in literature is a lot of fun.

Also known as the trickster archetype.
James Jesse was a much better Trickster than his Eminem-wannabe replacement. Stupid Geoff Johns!

That was one of the few missteps I think Johns made with the Flash Roues.

Oh, I think he took a LOT of missteps with the Rogues. For example, I hated the way he set up that new female Rogue, what was her name, Black-something, as a major new villainess, then he desexualized her and had her attacked by an angry mob, and then never used her again. Stupid Johns!

I actually liked her (Peek-A-Boo was her name). She brought a much needed female presence to the Flash rouges gallery, which only had Magenta prior to that point.

I have to confess that I like Jay Garrick and Wally West much better than Barry Allen. They're more interesting.
Having said that, I've very much enjoyed both the 1990s and current Flash TV series.
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

I never thought Barry was particularly interesting until I read the Cary Bates run from the 80's, which I think really did some interesting things with the character. Then again, I'm also the kind of the crazy fan who thinks the Trial of the Flash was one of the best and most underrated Flash stories.

Are we talking about different characters? This is who I was referring to: http://www.comicvine.com/peek-a-boo/4005-5736/

Yes, we are talking about different characters.

Ah, now I remember. Thanks for the reminder. I can see your frustration there, but I was never particularly interested in the character. I think she was one of the Johns inventions that fell flat for me.

I thought his treatment of her was misogynous and paternalistic.
I also thought Johns' Captain Cold was a cheesy "tuff-guy" poser. I couldn't take him seriously the way Johns obviously wanted readers to.

On another note, poor Magenta. Her mental instability was worse than Polaris'.

I sympathized with Magenta, pre-Johns. Then he took her way over the edge. Stupid Johns!

Poor, poor Frances. Would have been better if she'd started as unstable and then got under control, but nooooo...

In an alternate reality I created, Frances and Wally ended up together and had a daughter named Barbara.

I liked Linda, since she brought diversity to the superhero spouse community.

I have limited experience with Frances-Wally and Linda-Wally so have a hard time commenting on who is the better fit for Wally.
