That's awesome, Blacula!

There's an old theory that whatever song was No. 1 on your birthdate has some bearing on your life. I guess "Southern Nights" certainly fits!

What have people been telling you about me? wink

Well, if you were born in Zambia and live in Australia, that's pretty southern, right? smile

By the way, the discovery of Billboard Magazine on Google Books has helped me solve a long-standing mystery concerning this chart. Using data from the chart, I was able to construct the Top 20 for the previous week, April 23. However, there was no way to figure out what song was at No. 18 that week.

I now know that the song at No. 18 was the song that slipped to No. 27 the following week, e.g, "Dancing Queen."

The chart completist in me can now die a happy nerd.

Top 40 revelation of the night:

35. CHERRY BABY, Starz

This band was formed out of the remnants of Looking Glass, the group best known for "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)," which topped the Billboard chart in 1972. The group eventually morphed into Fallen Angels and then Starz. Bassist Pieter Sweval and drummer Jeff Grob (a.k.a. Joe X. Dube) were featured on both songs.
