For the most part the line of demarcation between callsigns for television and radio stations in the United States beginning with K or W is the Mississippi River. As a rule K is west of the Mississippi and W is east. There are many exceptions. There are more Ws west of the Mississippi (such as WOI in Ames, Iowa, or WFAA is Dallas) than there are Ks on the east side (such as KDKA in Pittsburgh or KYW in Philadelphia). In Louisiana and Minnesota, both of which straddle the Mississippi, there are stations with callsigns beginning with both letters.

I think you and I have seen through each others' strategies, Rocky. And neither of us has any intention of letting the other win tongue

Sadly, because this isn't "Kill this Inane Thread" I can't use the strategy of posting country names that aren't related the previous post to win tongue

Yeah. About that. You know non sequiturs aren't allowed in that thread either, right? wink

Aren't they? I've never seen rules for that thread smile I'm just going by the title, "Inane", which means very silly or stupid; lacking significance, meaning, or point.

While there are no explicit rules for that thread, the convention certainly is that you post a word that you associate with the previous word.

Well, thanks for clarifying that. I was aware of the convention of course (having posted in Inane One Word Threads for a long long time), but decided to go my own way because of the lack of explicit rules.

I suppose the question is - how strongly should convention be followed? I suppose it bothers (might be too strong a word :p) some people as it was raised. But I don't really mind following convention if it is an issue smile

(PS: Kosovo, Guyana, Afghanistan, Liberia, Qatar, and Jamaica :p)

I like the countries thing, but without the word association, the game kind of falls apart.

Uganda
Tuvalu
Fiji
Bolivia

Is Tuvalu pronounced like "toodle-oo"?

If it is, it's a bit of a giveaway for British influence wink

"Oh "toodle-oo?" Yes, it's right next door to the "tiffin" islands and the "cricket" reefs.

In addition to "toodle-oo", there's also "boogaloo".

Electric Boogaloo is going to be one of the main villains in the Vibe/El Dorado team-up comic that I will someday write when MLLASH owns DC Comics!
