61. ARCHIE
62. Don't really care. WAR GODDESS
63. FORBIDDEN WORLDS if I must pick one of these so-so covers.
64. DETECTIVE COMICS chills me... imagine finding your own face there. Flash is cute as per usual for his covers but not cute enough to win.
65. I like the suspense of both and choose the less yappy AVENGERS.
66. CAPTAIN MARVEL
67. The excited fan artists on SUPERBOY win me over
68. I'm gonna gay marry Natch and become one of those THE KILROYS! Buzzy can fuck off. So can all those clingy chicks on Natch's lifeguard tower (throws acid at them)

61. HEATCHCLIFF -- guest-starring the Marvel universe. 62. WAR GODDESS -- just because of the background. 63. FORBIDDEN WORLDS -- That genie is showing off his "chest of death"! 64. FLASH COMICS -- Take that, you Ratzis!

65. AVENGERS -- Feel the power of the hammer of Thor! 66. CAPTAIN MARVEL -- Like the more blatant display of power. 67. SUPERBOY -- This cover is just total love! 68. BUZZY -- Poor guy! I've totes been there!

65. FANTASTIC FOUR - although Johnny deserves what he gets for feeling the Hulk. 66. SHE HULK - Considering the super strength, the spiky knuckle dusters are a bit redundant. 67. BINKY - "Now look at the adult doodles blackboard, Superboy" loses out to fairly bland binks. 68. THE KILROYS - Although Buzzy's delusions are pretty strong.

53. BIG TOWN.
54. PUNCH COMICS. Although I don't like either. Or anything from Chesler/Dynamic.
55. ULTIMATE X-MEN.
56. HUMOR. What a difference a professional-looking logo makes!
57. PHANTOM STRANGER. The battle of perspective...this time I picked the rectangle over the pierced circle.
58. LITTLE LULU. Fun & sunshine!
59. BARBIE. Aw, what the hell. You flounce that shit, girl.
60. ARCHIE'S PALS 'N' GALS.
61. HEATHCLIFF.
62. SKELETON KEY. I like Art Nouveau fo sho, but SK wins. (Side note: it kinda reminds me of an LWer who needs to get her own self back here.)
63. FORBIDDEN WORLDS. Neither all that impressive, but other than the nice background color, Unknown Worlds kind of a snooze.
64. FLASH COMICS. Green background + jazz hands! BOOM.
65. AVENGERS. I guess. Neither is really a standout. I was born way too late for THE HULK MEETING THE FF!!!! to be an event.
66. SHE-HULK. I like both, but with She-Hulk there's the question of whether she's gonna punch your lights out or knock you out with litigation.
67. SUPERBOY. Chalkboards, the pre-internet internet!
68. BUZZY. I appreciate the more sophisticates palette of The Kilroys, but the curved-line stylization on the early Buzzy covers is just too cute.

69. Lois Lane - I had to check that the person holding up Superman wasn't Jimmy Olsen. Lois' bitterness wins the day, if not Superman's heart >choke!< 70. Space Adventures - Starman's leg is always going to look broken to me in 1st Issue special. Besides, Cap gets points for getting Drura home safely. 71. Crisis - It's such an iconic cover. "We must stop The Monitor's operatic performance or the Earth will Die!" But had it not been for that, it would be the Metal Men - the angst, the lack of self worth, decapitation, their impending doom, Doc being turned on by robots. It's all there! 72. Batman - for the card images. Remember FF: Not in front of the children!

69. Someone call that 4th-dimensional surgeon! Meanwhile, LOIS LANE wins because any comic calling a female character "girl (whatever)" WINS. See my very own 5 issue miniseries TRASH LASS: GIRL GARBAGE COLLECTOR for proof of my belief in this!
70. Hard to believe anything CHARLTON is giving DC a run for the money but there's the power of the starfield. Ultimately, the win MUST go to Kubert on 1ST ISSUE SPECIAL (it helps that the retron mod logo is a real turn on too).
71. Shut yer bellyachin' Lead, CRISIS is taking this. Perez is AN UNPARALLELED MASTER OF DETAIL but everyone already knows this.
72. Allred vs Allred? That's just mean. my head says give it to BATMAN but you missed a spot... in my heart heart heart... so it goes to FF because kids and Miss Thing!

69. JIMMY OLSEN wins for the 4d reference! 70. SPACE ADVENTURES for me! 71. CRISIS - such a classic! 72. BATMAN '66 - Marsha, Queen of Diamonds is love!

69. LOIS LANE. At least someone's doing someTHING instead of just yap yap yapping. And look at Supes' sassy hand-on-hips pose!
70. 1ST ISSUE SPECIAL. Check out that costume! Coulda been Thom's in the sexy disco era, ha! Space Adventures is sad and depressing.
71. METAL MEN!
72. BATMAN '66. Cards!

73. ROMANTIC LOVE -- No need to say you're flirting! 74. TALES OF THE MYSTERIOUS TRAVELER - I think it would be better without the speech bubble, though! 75. KONGA - I'm turned off by the awkward neck stretching on the other one! 76. DAREDEVIL - Not a huge fan of either one, but this tells me more of a story!

73. I LOVE BOTH. Wow. I want to give it to the chick glaring/sneering (snaring? gleering?) on RL, but I WAS AN UNTAMED FILLY! LOVE LIFE for the win! (flashes boobs, explains that as a flirt, I do such things)
74. UNEXPLORED WORLDS because lettering does matter.
75. Nice finger action on Konga but that 20 cents time of DC with half covers is SO retro fabulous to me. SWAMP THING ftw.
76. Not really liking either overly much, but there's a few... nice things... about that DAREDEVIL art... so it. (isn't undressing a comic character with eyes)

77. NEW MUTANTS-- a period the comic was about to EXPLODE INTO SUPER GREATNESS for me. Whereas EXCALIBUR, For me as I recall went more downhill as it progressed.
78. I hate both, sorry. Really hate. Abstain. Reasons if you must: Dude begging for his life is hurting me to see, and shooting someone in the back (anywhere really) sickens me, plus SUSPENSTORIES has always irritated me as a word. Art on neither is worth writing home about for me. Blame it on chemo madness if you must.
79. GO-GO's pants win the whole internet!!
80. Well fuck-all. I got all bitch boxy about gun violence on shit covers, and now there's implied gun violence on covers I like. Let's pretend it's super-fatassing raygun violence here. Pretending is nice. I'm pretending Ryan Bertroche is making me a grilled cheese clad only in his boy-panties as I type. I'm NOT pretending that ALPHA FLIGHT 12 wins 'cause it does.

73. MY LOVE LIFE. My, there are some frank looks/words in this duo! Romantic Love sure has scary bangs though.
74. MYSTERIOUS TRAVELER. What's that other thing...an egg, a mirror, a portal?
75. KONGA. Get the point?
76. DAREDEVIL. I bought this just because I liked this cover.
77. EXCALIBUR! Davis! Cute!
78. CRIME SUSPENSTORIES. Like Hitchcock to the other cover's cheap cable TV movie.
79. TIPPY'S FRIEND GO-GO. Scooter is a little busy.
80. ALPHA FLIGHT.

1) New Teen Titans 2) My Love Memoirs 3) Millie the Model - 4) Black Cat – great composition with the big moon in the background! 5) Superman – love that cover with Supes and the soldiers 6) Daredevil – truly great modern cover! 7) Sea Devils – Russ! 8) Action – Contact Comics – never seen this cover before, and it’s beautiful! 9) Justice League - love the old JLA covers and this is a great one. 10) Ms. Marvel – tough choice. Don’t love either cover. 11) Brides in Love – if I was 10 and saw this cover, you bet I’d want to get married right then and there! Is that what married folk do all day? 12) Mister Mystery – classic eye in peril!

13) Ghost Manor – it’s the coloring that puts it over the top. Well done. 14) Watchmen – iconic 15) Hot Stuff – never read a comic featuring this character but I like him already. 16) Aquaman – got this when it came out and I was about 14. Seeing it now makes me feel about 14. 17) Blackhawk (DC) – really dynamic! The little planes in the front really sell it just right. 18) Tales of the Unexpected – I see this cover and I *want* to read this story! 19) Spectre – tough call because I know the Promethea issue inside is actually far superior, but I really like this Spectre cover, which I otherwise would have never remembered existed. 20) Astro City – the Lazarus cover is beautiful but there is no denying how utterly phenomenal that Astro City cover is! 21) Tales of the Beanworld – for some reason, the “string” or whatever it (making it an ornament?) makes it more appealing. Also the color is easier on the eyes. 22) Magic Comics – the Love Fights cover is too minimal. The Magic Comics cover isn’t all that great though. 23) Dead Boy Detectives 24) TMK LSH - #12 is among my favorite covers in the history of comics. (As is TMK #4). This cover is a phenomenal turning point in the history of the Legion. I’ve found myself getting choked up looking at it before.

25) Boy Meets Girl – something is going on in that scene, and I want to find out what exactly! 26) Flaming Carrot – great composition and color. Meanwhile, I just can’t stand Herbie. 27) Secret Wars – perhaps it doesn’t work as well if you don’t know the history of Dr. Doom and Marvel not showing his face; but I do know it. 28) Classics Illustrated – love this Headless Horseman cover! I’ve never seen it before. 29) Romantic Adventures for the glamor of white dinner jackets and gowns. 30) Superior Foes of Spider-Man – actually nails the aesthetic it is going for, unlike Earth-2: World’s End which falls short. 31) Captain Marvel – you feel the power jumping off the page here. 32) Ms. Marvel – the Iron Man story within is actually a far superior story (highly recommend to everyone) but you can’t deny that beautiful cover with its clear Romita and Starlin influences. 33) Case Files: Sam & Twitch 34) Trouble With Girls 1990 – though I love the Adventure #300 homage, this other cover has a little something extra, including Hippies and Punks. 35) Aquaman – gotta love those Cardy Aquaman covers. This one is just plain awesome! 36) Daring Adventures – another awesome cover I’ve never seen before. Well composed, great color, awesome 60’s logo.

37) Daredevil – despite the logo cutting off a quarter of the cover, I still like this one better. 38) X-Treme X-Men – don’t like either cover all that much, but this one has better placement of the characters. However, the browns and blacks don’t make it all that pleasing to look at. 39) Superman – really well thought out cover that stands on its own with nods to past covers and continuity. 40) More Fun Comics – is it bad that I want to see this gooball fall off the cliff? 41) My Love – man oh man that cover is sexy 42) Hawkeye – terrific 43) Mr. District Attorney 44) Archie’s Mad House – in one image it nails Ronnie, Archie and the tone of the comic 45) Famous Funnies – negligence was hilarious in the 30’s! 46) Reg’lar Fellers Heroic Comics – super-dynamic cover which beats out the 7 Soldiers 47) Going Steady – really romantic cover filled with atmosphere. I’m about ready to call it a day and go home and see the wife after looking at this cover. 48) Hawkman – my father was just saying the other day how much he loved Murphy Anderson’s Hawkman as a kid, which surprised me as I had never heard him say that before. Looking at Hawkman’s covers you can see why. They’re almost all terrific—very dynamic and very unique to Hawkman.
