Just curious if those of you who get your books at a comic shop know how the new book is doing there.
My store (in Maryland) ordered 100 copies and was sold out by Friday. Not at all bad.

Was it Jim Ghalligar (sp?) that used to post sales figures for us back during the Legion Worlds/Legion Lost period? Dry reading but fascinating.

Jim still does do those stats. I even started carrying them on my site at one time. I think we'll see the figures released this week for December but I'm not sure. Never can keep track of the date.

I just checked ICv2\'s sales index and we have a couple of weeks to go. It appears we get the figures for the previous month's sales around the 3rd week of the following month. So I figure we'll get the figures around the 18th of January.

That sounds about right.
There's a guy on the DC newsgroup who put up November's sales there not that long ago.
Still, I'm curious about how the book is doing in individual shops.

The guy who did that was probably Paul O'Brien. He does a breakdown for The Pulse every month. One for DC and one for Marvel.

It's not Paul, though he does contribute his wonderful X-Axis reviews there.
I believe the guy's name is Marc-Oliver Frisch, though I'd have to check the spelling.

Yeah, Paul only does Marvel. Marc does the DC side of things, with a smidge of independents.

My local and well-run shop ordered about 20 copies apart from those for pull boxes (which I don't have), and about 10 of them were still available on Friday when I picked mine up. The shop's owner has "LSH" v5n1 as one of her recommendations to customers. She'd have put up more promo items, but she didn't even get the one poster created thus far until mid-November, long after the "Previews" order deadline. DC, get on the ball here!

Wonderland sold all but 2 copies of their initial order of 40. They've placed an order for an additional 20 copies.

Yes well. Last Friday when LSH 1 was supposed to ship to the UK I eagerly made a long journey by bus (I can't drive) to the *only* comic shop that I can get to. (the only one accessible from Staines that I know of). No LSH. Okay, it'll be there next week, so after days of anticipation and avoicing this MB so I wouldn't be spoiled I go again today. Still no LSH. The boy behind the counter asks me if I'm looking for anything (I was too shy to ask last week even though I wanted to!) I tell him the object of my quest. Guess what? That comic shop, because the Legion has always been such a small seller hasn't even ordered LSH 1. He said they only had a couple of copies for people with standing orders. I said limply oh that's disappointing this is the only comic shop I can get to. He went on to tell me cheerfully that basically, if it's not the X Men or Spiderman I'm out of luck. Gee thanks. I know I should have asked if it wasn't too late to order it or if I could start a standing order. (I did used to have one with that shop for legion titles before I got disgusted with the ever climbing price, not to mention the shrinking storage space in my house) But I was too shy to ask for that. (I know it's pathetic, but I have problems with that sort of thing) So. They don't stock Legion because they think it won't sell. How is it going to get a chance to sell if they don't stock it? I have been going to that comic shop for more than 10 years. I don't think I want to go there again. Meanwhile about four months worth of unsold turkies like Doom Patrol sit gathering dust on the shelf. On the bus back home I was actually in tears. I have been looking forward to LSH 1 for so long. And the only comic shop I can get to won't stock it. That's it for me then. My only hope of getting to read it is if someone scans it and puts it on bittorrent. It's only a stupid comic book but I am so sad about this. This series is dead to me. I may get to read it in 6 years time if someone gets around to scanning it and putting it on the internet. There is one other comic shop, in Harrow but I can't get to that by bus. My boyfriend won't drive me there because Harrow is a s*ithole and he finds urban places depressing blah blah blah. So that's it. LSH v5 is dead to me. I can never read it. I don't think I can even read this mb anymore. It actually hurts too much. I wanted to read this so much. Most people would think that a strange overreaction to what is just a comic book but as fellow legion fans I'm sure you would understand... Just very depressed and a bit angry, mostly depressed though.

Hey, I'm sorry for being melodramatic just now. I really should have asked the guy if he could order it. I've got this problem with shyness and confidence so I really find it hard to do things like that. It's really lame I know. And maybe I should have carried on buying Legion all the way through and then they would have carried it all along so maybe it's my fault. But I did lose interest in the Legion for a while. The DNA stuff just didn't have the old Legion magic for me. I know I should have supported the Legion all along so I shouldn't complain but I had other things going on in my life and I only got my passion for all things legion reignited when I found this message board...*sigh*. I'm sorry for being such a pathetic crybaby on the board:) I've been a bit emotional anyway lately due to stuff and stuff! (and pov-thank you so much! You're so kind!)-I hope it's okay to say that on the board, I'm not sure of the ettiquette, but then again by not saying it I might offend you and I don't want to do that! I'm sorry for bringing this thread off topic! I feel a bit better now -Jackie/Drura

Drura, if you PM me your mailing address, I would be happy to get and send you a copy of #1 (assuming there are still copies available where I get it)
Isn't there a mailorder company that services Great Britain? I would urge you to look into that option as well. Perhaps 'Binger or Darden of one of our other posters "across the pond" can help you along those lines.
But don't you worry, with so many of us here on Legion World I'm sure we can help make sure you don't have to do without.

Drura, As far as I know LSH #1 hasn't sold out at DC/Diamond yet. Your shop should still be able to re-order it for you. Not sure how the re-order policy works in the UK, but it shouldn't be that difficult. Look at it this way. When you do get your copy of #1, you won't have as long to wait for the second issue.
I'd also set up a pull account at the store for Legion as it's obvious the series is quite important to you.

Most stores in the Chicago area sold out due to under-ordering.But look on the bright side , we don't have to worry about RRP variant covers...Those things are way too expensive!!

Shshshshsh...we think so too but don't tell him, he might get a swelled head about it. My thought on this is just get your boyfriend to drive you to Barry Kitson's house and beat on the door until he gives in and tosses you a autographed copy just so you'll leave him alone. That's what I'd do. Barry's really nice. I'd do that to Mark Waid but he scares me.

Several copies of v5n1 are already being offered on eBay, Jackie, if no other source comes through for you. Try searching for "legion of super" (with quote marks), checking the box for searching in descriptions as well as in titles.

Do I read this correct that Pov is helping you get a copy?
If not, I'm willing to help.
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

Drura,
Just seen this and i do have a spare copy I picked up. If you want it its yours. Just PM me the address.
I dont know about your shop but Forbidden Planet in Newcastle is usually pretty good about ordering stuff, even just on a one off basis. (I have done that in the past for Legion x overs) If you can ask your shop i'm sure they will help.
