SO I'm guessing a wish for infinite contract loopholes is out too. Well, I guess I'd like to wish for our school to be more effective and be able to find good replacements for the teachers leaving. Or is that two wishes? I guess the latter.

You might enjoy "The Stars of Heaven" by Pickover. He has a great story-telling way of explaining Science and he pulls NO punches in what he will ask the reader to tackle.

Worst experience while drinking alcohol?

My first and only sloe gin. Wasn't the alcohol. It was the taste. Other than that, nothing so bad I'd want it forgotten.

Hard to pick one. Bailey's is probably it. There's a chocolate-flavored drink called Lumumba at Blaze and my fave beach. Another one called Soco Shake Slammer at our fave hangout. For beer it is Guinness.

What is your fave article of clothing?

Ooh, Ooh, I actually have one. It's a shirt I found on the sale rack at REI for $7.49.

The cloth is NICE! I mean the decorative parts aren't printed, they're woven. It's lightweight and has sweat panels in strategic spots, which I suppose makes sense since REI is a camping store but it looks like a regular casual shirt. The BEST part? It's got this pocket, zippered, at about a 45 degree angle under the left arm. I've no idea why but the students get a kick when I pull something out of there because no one expects a pocket to be there.

For me it's my love of travel and my knowledge of geography. I can rattle off UNESCO World Heritage Sites in "obscure" countries like Cabo Verde, Suriname, Kiribati, Uzbekistan, Slovenia. And I actually want to visit all these places like Benin, Nicaragua, Mongolia, Vanuatu...

Who is your favorite relative and why? Besides your parents.

hmm, kind of running out. Just lost my second mom this week, really my Aunt who took care of me when my Ma couldn't. Everyone before me is now gone except maybe my dad who I don't contact with. Have cousins I don't see much. I'd have to say my best friend from high school's parents who kept me fed and gave me adults to talk to, even though they're not "blood" that's where I go on Christmas and July 4.

I do like some of my cousins quite a bit. The ones who don't act like they have to compete with me on everything. It's fun just relaxing and talking about nothing with them.

We'd go swimming every Sunday, and we'd always have this barbecued pork and chicken with this really tasty BBQ sauce.

Someone, probably a neighborhood drunk, trying to bust down our door at night and my Ma, all 5'2" of her standing on our side with a butcher knife. We scared the guy off before he broke through or he just gave up, I asked my Ma what she'd have done if he'd gotten in.

First time I recall her swearing. "I'd throw this knife, grab you and get the 'f' out the back."


In hindsight, not quite sure why we didn't run out the back in the first place. Eh, stand your ground, lol.

I'm honestly not as well-read as I should be. I'll go with the Wheel of Time series, which has quite the epic scope and loads and loads of characters.

I talked about this one I think in the what are you reading thread: "The Stars of Heaven" by Clifford Pickover. He explains who we come to understand and measure the stars in the context of a sci-fi story. It's a cheesy sci-fi story but still, a unique approach.

As a kid I very much enjoyed the Charlie Brown Encyclopedia series. 15 volumes, articles interspersed with relevant comic strips and some new illustrations just for the book.

My favorite was the volumne about Holidays around the world.
