My favorite male Legionnaire is Drake, followed in no particular order by Gim, Reep, Garth, Tellus, Quislet, Blok, Brin, Jan. My favorite female Legionnaire is Tasmia, but the one I relate to the most is Ayla. I also like Imra, Dawny, Tinya, Nura, Mysa, Jeckie, Jenni, Jazmin, Zoe.

I guess my favorite female Legionnaires would be Imra, Tinya, Salu, and Jeckie.
BTW, I made an edit in the title. This is the twelfth "Kill This Thread" thread.

My favorite female Legionnaires are Imra, Jeckie, Lydda (are we counting her?), and Tinya.

We should definitely count Lydda. I have a mix of the sexes. My top 5 faves are Zoe, Gates, Brainy, Garth, Jenni. Close behind are Jazmin, Imra, Tinya, Brek, Berta, Drake, Reep, Shikari, Candi, Val, Tasmia, Chuck, Luornu...

I never did get to read every Legionnaire in every incarnation, but I've liked all of them in some way or another. Violet and Cham are still probably my favorites, though.
It depresses me how poorly characterized so many of them were in this last go-round, though in the visual sense some of them looked really terrific.

There was a halfway-decent story in there, somewhere. But we never got it.

If they were trying to redeem him, they failed miserably. Yes, his last act was heroic, but the build-up fell flat.

If I had to list all the ways that plotline failed, I'd be here for the next ten hours. The one that isn't often mentioned but always sticks in my craw when I think about it: The Legion is almost (still) an entirely Caucasian team. Earth Man is Caucasian. But the nasty anti-alien bigots who wanted to enlist him to "ethnically cleanse" the Earth? They were a completely interracial collection of people. They were more diverse than any actual superhero team DC's ever had. That's seriously messed up, even by DC's usual standards.

Oh wow. That's a very good point, cleome. Thinking back - have we had any Latino Legionnaires (or future equivalent - you know what I mean)? I can't quite think of one.

Me, neither. I tend to imagine Brin Londo from the cartoon as having a Latino background.

One of the many things I love about Tasmia is that because she has exotic facial features and blue skin, she can be whatever ethnicity the individual reader wants her to be. Since I'm Hispanic, and since she's my favorite Legionnaire, I consider her an honorary Latina. Needless to say, I abhor the three moments when she's worn Caucasian body makeup, even if the first time (the first Mordru story) it was necessary for her very survival.

The Shadow Woman Caucasian body makeup was silly. It did make for a nice in-joke to the Adult Legion story.

The word "Caucasian" actually refers to the Caucasus Mountains.

The nation of Georgia's name, predictably, confuses many Americans.

What would Emily Post say about a one-word post, I wonder.
