Dishwashers aren't common in the Philippines. Most people wash dishes by hand.

My grandmother, whose first language was not English, would point to our dishwasher (she did not have one) and say "This-a wash-a-dish."

It gets the meaning across

And it gave me something amusing to call it.

I like washing dishes. I like it better than doing laundry.

There used to be many more brands of laundry detergent than there are now. Corporations decided it was more cost-effective to market just a few brands and have variations within the brand.

My mother insists on using the same brand of detergent, changing only when the brand itself probably stops.

We used Oxydol when I was a kid. I knew that brand was doomed when they introduced Tide with Bleach.

I'm in the camp of getting whatever seems to work, rather than being super loyal to a particular detergent brand. So if the one i get our of habit now isn't there, I'll just give something else a try.

I am the same. If something works well though, great, I don't need to try anything new.

I'm pretty loyal to brands I like. Ever since I could afford a brand of toilet paper that wasn't the super-cheap stuff, I've used the same sqeezably soft brand.

Resists urge to comment that DCNu provides excellent toilet paper :-D

Sadly my choice is based on a colour that goes well with the bathrooms.

Aesthetics is important.

Hopefully, the Post-Convergence DCU (PCDCU?) will be better than the DCNu. I certainly can't imagine it being worse -- there's only so far the bottom of the barrel can be scraped.

I get the feeling that the flooring under the DC barrel sits above a barrel filled basement that they are working their way through :-)

Thinks of exceptions to provide balance, remembers giving them all a try and gives up...

Not to sound pretentious, but my personal philosophy can be summed up as the search for balance between two extremes.

I have terrible balance. I could barely move last time I tried ice skating.

I did learn how to ride a bicycle late last year though.

Metropolis is sometimes geographically placed in Delaware, with Gotham City lying on the opposite shore of Delaware Bay in New Jersey. Of course, they are both fictionalizations of New York.

Of those states you mention, I have only been to New York.

I have been to Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. I have lived in Massachusetts, Florida, Michigan, and Texas.

I have only been to New York, Pennsylvania, California and Washington DC.

I have been to 14 different countries. I sincerely hope to add 2-3 more a year to that list. And if I can get citizenship in a country with a stronger passport... the sky's the limit.

As far as countries, I've been to the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany and Switzerland. I don't see more international travel in my near future.

Oh Switzerland! Would love to visit all those European countries, Rocky.

Most of the countries I've visited have been in Asia. I've been to 7 of the other 9 ASEAN countries. Of the last two, Laos is on my list, but not Brunei.

My top 10 wishlist (countries I haven't been to): Iceland, Peru, Nepal, Tanzania, Egypt, Israel, France, Italy... Can't quite decide what the last 2 are, but Switzerland and New Zealand are it right now. Ask me again in two weeks and I'll probably give a different answer - Brazil, Mexico, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, South Africa, Greece, Turkey, Uzbekistan are all high on my list.

Of the countries I have been to, I would like to visit the USA and Australia again. And I will never say NO to a trip to Japan or Thailand or even Cambodia.

Canada, the UK, and France are all on my "to be repeated" list. We were only in Switzerland a few hours. It's a German-speaking city, so I wasn't as comfortable as I would have been, say, in French-speaking Geneva.
