I like a good peach cobbler once in a while, with vanilla ice cream.

Is he fat because he chows a lot?

One of my favorite Margaret Cho routines goes:

"The National Enquirer published this thing called the 'Chow like Cho Diet,' which was this fake diet that I never went on, with all these fake quotes from me, like 'When I was a little girl, I was raised on rice and fish. So when I get heavy, I go back to that natural Asian way of eating.' That is so Mulan."

Rice isn't really the best thing to eat for those trying to shed fat, either.

Body image is talked about as if it is something only women struggle with; however, men, especially gay men, have those issues also.

You seem pretty in shape, Ibby.

It took me years to stop being angry at myself and my body for being fat. So it bothers me to see other people down on themselves about it. It's actually not a crime to be fat, and I'd rather appreciate what my body (imperfect though it is) can do for me than be angry at it.

Ragen Chastain at Dances With Fat (one of my favorite blogs) talks about this all the time. Why not be pleased when your body does so much for you: it breathes, digests, helps you get where you want to go. I don't want to waste time being angry with it anymore, or denying it sufficient food to do its work effectively. That's counterproductive.

Maybe you believe (and this is up for debate among scientists) that a few extra pounds cause dangerous health problems which dieting will eliminate. But even that is a poor reason to be angry with or disgusted with my body. I don't hate my body because I walk with a limp or have occasional skin breakouts, either. Neither of those is a marker of perfect health and they can, under some circumstance, lead to other physical issues. But self-hate is not the answer to fixing them.

Being happy with who you are is the most important thing.

I used to weigh 210 pounds on a 5'9 frame, which is why I can be quite conscious about putting on weight. But you are all correct that we all should learn to appreciate ourselves more.

Before the conversion to decimal currency, the Pound Sterling was worth 20 shillings, each of which were worth 12 pence.

Too bad that neither my schedule nor my kitchen are suited for breadmaking operations right now.

I haven't had much time to cook either. I find cooking to be a very therapeutic Activity.

The only thing I now how to cook are eggs. I am a master omelette and sunny side up maker.

I've always been a pretty good cook, but I never did it much till I started seeing The Boyfriend. I enjoy making him dinner.

It would be awesome to have a cookout with all Of you!

You should pop into Houston this summer and we can have an awesome summer barbeque!
