I thought Convergence #0 was...not terrible. It took two reads to get past the dispassionate artwork and the pompous scripting, but overall, it does an acceptable job of setting the stage for the tie-ins, which are after all what we're here for.

Well this is the first time I've ever cared about Brainiac, though only because of Van Sciver's portrayal of the robotic skeleton Brainiac.

Have any pre-Nu52 characters shown up in it yet?

Well I guess technically Brainiac counts as pre-Nu52 character since they're saying he's existed throughout all the different revisions.
Telos takes any the form of multiple Brainiacs as he's appeared throughout comics, including Pulsar Stargrave and the evil scientist version with Koko on his shoulder! But that's about it.
We also get a glimpse at one version of Legion HQ.

I'll admit I only skimmed it so I may have missed something, but my bigger beef was that after spending the whole issue going after Brainiac/Telos for wrongfully imprisoning everyone, when Superman realises his version of Metropolis is in trouble, he then just turns around and leaves all those cities behind without even an "I'll be back". That seems out of character.

My impression was that Telos ejected him back into his own reality, and wiped his memory of the whole experience.

He doesn't remember though. Didn't Telos erase his memory?

I hadn't realized it either. Then again, I try not to think about the Nu52 Superman ever since he actually said he'd been "friendzoned." And despite all my protests about not retconning the DCU to the pre-Flashpoint status because another retcon won't solve anything, my gut response every time I read the whole "would you sacrifice a world" thing is "Yes. Burn it. Burn all of it." I know this is wrong.

It's not wrong. What would anyone in their right mind miss about the Nu52?

The Movement. Nelson Jent and Manteau. Bunker. The new Power Girl. Alysia Yeoh. Porcelain. A number of the Earths introduced in Multiversity. Gotham Academy. Catwoman being openly bisexual now.

Point well taken.
I'm tempted to add the Nu52 Helena Wayne to that list, but she's no Pre-Crisis Helena Wayne.

Yeah Earth-2 can spiral into a black hole for all I care except for Helena, Power Girl, and Aquawoman.
If I can't have old fashion Alan Scott teaming up with younger Alan Scott, Imma nuke the entire Universe-2 except for those three.
With apologies to Nicola Scott because she is awesome.
I'd rather just have the characters remember the old universe and everything that happened in it being accepted as part of their lives instead of just retconning it. Of course it'll make Thanksgiving at the Lane Family Household very awkward if Lucy Lane remembers her father turned her into a killing machine.

In a similar mould to what Sarky just described, I wish they'd bring back Hypertime.

Now THAT I'm using to describe away Harvest's future, Bar Torr's future, and how Earth-16 can be home to the Young Justice cartoon and what we saw in Multiversity.
I'm pretty sure Morrison has explicitly said each universe has its own alternate timelines and dimensions.

I hope you get that happy ending, Sarky. Well, I'm still gonna be mad at some stuff but this'll make things so much easier in my life. Donna's making more of an effort to help Roy then she did the first time, and at least now I won't have to write a heavy handed reconciliation issue between Roy and Lian. At least, knowing it didn't end at Eric Wallace. God willing.

Did that cover to that Titans tie in remind anyone of the Devin Grayson Titans era?
