I actually have the first couple Kelly Green graphic novels. Lovely to look at, though very violent, at least by 80s standards.

Earliest graphic novels/comic books I read were Justice League (the BWahahaha days) and the Legion of Super-Heroes (mix of SW6 and early Postboot - you can imagine things got quite confusing for me especially because the Internet was new then).

I love that the JLI can be referred to as "BWA-HA-HA". It was one of the highlights of the immediate post-COIE era. It seemed a shame that they merged all those earths and most of the characters from Earth-Two, except Power Girl, just disappeared for a while.
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

There were a lot of great characters who were lost for a bit.
What I liked about the JLI was the diversity. Although, for a while there the membership seemed like a revolving door. We lost Captain Marvel, Doctor Fate and Black Canary in the first 1.5 years, for example.

I also liked that the Giffen/DeMatteis JLI era focused a lot on second tier characters from the DCU, like Booster Gold and Blue Beetle instead of the major players who already had titles of their own. On the downside, Wonder Woman got kind of screwed over as a JL founder.

As I've said many times before, my favorite post-COIE retcon was Miss America's taking Wonder Woman's place in the JSA. It worked much better than the uncomfortable later retcon with Hippolyta taking her place.

Miss America, with her molecular powers, is arguably the most powerful woman in the entire pre-Flashpoint DC Universe.

Just ask Robotman's extendable arm.

With all due respect, Thoth, The Golden Age is not canon.

Miss America could easily have transmuted Robotman back to the Stone Age Poor Miss America. The Golden Age gave her a moment of courage but did not really show what she could do.

Yeah, that was the only thing I didn't like about The Golden Age.
But I still think it's the best thing James Robinson has ever written.

I like how it delved into the psyches of so many Golden Age heroes. Certainly added a lot of depth to them!

My favorite Golden Age series is still Infinity Inc. Is there any writer since Roy Thomas who has written the Earth-2 characters as well as he did? I think not.

David Goyer was, IMO, the unsung hero behind the late 90s/early 2000s JSA revival.

I did like the early issues of the Johns/Goyer JSA series. Too bad Goyer has made a bit of an ass out of himself with some of his recent public comments.

Oooooh, that's right.
I admit I had blocked those comments from my memory.
Shame, he's a good writer.
Ah, well, a lot of creative people are awful human beings.

Did you watch Man of Steel, Fanfie? He wrote the script for that and it was pretty poor, IMO.

I didn't watch Man of Steel, but I know what happens at the end and I hate it for that.
I put 100% of the blame on Zack Snyder, though.

Ah, I see. In either event, that's the movie that really soured me on Superman for a while. It wasn't until recently that I was interested in reading Superman comics again.
