Nighty is indeed very great. He helped me try and get tickets to SDCC 2011. But I was too cheap to.spring for the four day pass.

Nighty was the one who invited me to Legion World, back in 2005 on the DC boards.

I never posted on the DC boards since I didn't really get into forums until 2013.

You didn't miss much, there, Stalgie. The DC boards were poorly moderated when I was active on them. They had lots of flame wars and could really get ugly.

A few people (and there have really only been a few) who were banned from Legion World also badmouthed LW on it.

Yeah, Legion World was a godsend to me. At the point were Nighty invited me, I was despairing of finding any intelligent, constructive conversation, especially about L.E.G.I.O.N., which at the time I was more knowledgeable and passionate about than the LSH.

And I found exactly what I was looking for at Legion World.

And more. So much more. smile

That's kind of what brought me to Legion World. After the CBR forums rebooted back in April last year, many of the classic comics fans left the board and only the hardcore modern DC and Marvel enthusiasts were left who had little interest in talking about comics of the past. As such, there was little room for Legion talk since the book had been cancelled at that point already.

Legion World not only let me talk about my favorite DC runs of the past, but also my favorite superhero team! smile

As Fanfie said, Legion World is much more than a place to discuss the Legion. It's a community of friends. And we're all very glad Stalgie is part of it now. smile

I can attest that Legion World has definitely made me less shy about talking about comics. Whenever I talk about comics in person, I get really shy and talk less to try not to seem like a know it all fanboy.

I know very few comic book fans in real life. And I'm just not that comfortable sharing with them. A far cry from the folks here at Legion World!

The problem is that the few comic readers I do know swear by the Nu52 while I absolutely hate it. Since they are new readers and don't care for much of the history of the old DCU, it makes it hard to have conversations with them without descending into rants about continuity and loss of legacy.

Sadly, they have a different frame of reference. I find it worse with people who only know these characters through the movies!

So true, Ibby. Don't get me started on the number of arguments I've had about Man of Steel, both online and in person! wink

One of my favorited misspellings is "baited breath". With what is it baited? sigh

The "Most Dangerous Game" is a short story about a man hunting other people for sport on his own island.

Which is also a movie I was going to put up on a classic horror movie thread. With BraJas schlock thread now, I might put them up there instead.

The Smithsonian Institution is often erroneously called the "Smithsonian Institute".

I visited the Smithsonian last year during my spring break. The aerospace museum is amazing and I recommend you all visit if you ever wind up in DC. nod
