Originally, she was the former, then she was retconned into being the latter.
I think.
I try to sweep that kind of stuff under the carpet.

You are correct, that's what happened.
While I am happy that Apparition was made whole again, I can understand that LEGION fans would be upset that poor Phase pretty much ceased to exist.
Sigh.

In "Peanuts", whenever a character sighs, it is bracketed by asterisks: "*sigh*".
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

I love Legion World's *sigh* graemlin: But I have no idea which Legion-related character she is. I suspect it's Lana Lang, but I'm not sure.

Another vote for Lana. She often wore a bow in her hair in the Silver Age stories.

She is pretty much the only redheaded Legion character I can think of who wears bows. Kinetix only wears headbands.

Is the face supposed to be the Archmage?

And the simple smile ( ) is RJ Brande, I guess.

The little smiley always looks skull like to me.
The grin always reminds me of the little demon things in the same story as the Archmage. More fun than Grinn.
I remember that before the postboot that there was something about the Phantom Girl Jo finding actually being Tinya's cousin, who was also in the cruiser when it disappeared. Quickly forgotten about.

Thank you for ruining my fond memories of these smilies, thothy!
Yeah, at the very end of 5YL, Phase was actually Tinya's cousin Enya. Tinya would turn up in the very, very last issue - apparently brought forward in time by the Time Trapper from the moment of her "death" in the cruiser.

There is a reason why I think it looks very skull like. Something else else related to some recent Fickles and Lardy posts. I just need to dig out a TPB for the pic.

Nighty's a great guy. I've met him in person once, at SDCC in '08.
