Marvel Team-Up was awesome when Chris Claremont & John Byrne were the creative team. IIRC, that run was off and on from 53 to 79.

Was Meltdown the series where everyone going near the reactor was contaminated? Contaminated by the urge to say "Scram the Rods" far too much. It must have been something Simonson read when he was doing the research and it stuck with everyone.

I lasted three issues or so and just gave up. I think I only lasted that long because of the artist and not the writing.

But a great story can transcend bad art.
Unfortunately, that leads to some talented writers being labeled "artist-proof" and getting C-and-D-List artists assigned to their scripts.

I didn't say anything at the time because I know it has a lot of fans here at Legion World.

As much as I enjoy it, I don't disagree with you in a number of ways.
It's probably something I'll be getting round to more as part of the Justice League Detroit thing in Bits, assuming it doesn't come up elsewhere first.

Must make my shameless plugs more subtle Not a problem. It's just a bit of fun tweaking the Conway plots. I'm enjoying looking behind the scenes of the DC titles of the time just as much. I got a pile of DC books last year. Things like Green Lantern by Wein and Gibbons that I hadn't read before and Blue Devil. E-Bay also provided me with some Amazing Heroes mags from the time.

Re COIE, I do enjoy rereading it. But there were a lot of unnecessary scenes, like the ones that tied into other books. Amethyst being blinded, Blue Devil meeting the Omega Men, Starfire and company going to Tamaran...
