I like team-ups in general, but have not read much Marvel.

Marvel Team-Up was awesome when Chris Claremont & John Byrne were the creative team. IIRC, that run was off and on from 53 to 79.

Thanks for the recommendation, Fanfie! Those are the issues I will target first.

One of my favorite underrated team ups of Marvel characters:
Keep up with what I've been watching lately! "Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio? Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you."

In the Watchmen universe, the most popular brand of candy was Meltdowns.

I don't think I want those to melt in my mouth.

I still remember one of the M&Ms jingles from the 80s:
The milk chocolate melts in your mouth Not in your hand

Was Meltdown the series where everyone going near the reactor was contaminated? Contaminated by the urge to say "Scram the Rods" far too much. It must have been something Simonson read when he was doing the research and it stuck with everyone.

"Scram the Rods" sounds like innuendo to me, but then that's how my mind works.

"Logan, now that we're alone in this old reactor, I really think we should scram rods."
"You're right Alex. And I'm the best there is at scramming rods, 'cause I'm me."
No, you're right Fickles. It was filth all along hiding in a graphic novel.

"The Filth" is one Grant Morrison project I have no intention of ever reading. Even some of his most loyal fans dislike it intensely.

I lasted three issues or so and just gave up. I think I only lasted that long because of the artist and not the writing.

But a great story can transcend bad art.
Unfortunately, that leads to some talented writers being labeled "artist-proof" and getting C-and-D-List artists assigned to their scripts.

Pretty art cannot make up for a bad story. I'm fairly sure I've some dodgy Perez drawn comics somewhere. Not Sirens Fickles before you mention it

Not Sirens Fickles before you mention it LOL That reminds me, I re-read Crisis on Infinite Earths about a month ago and I thought it did not hold up well at all. I didn't say anything at the time because I know it has a lot of fans here at Legion World.

As much as I enjoy it, I don't disagree with you in a number of ways.
It's probably something I'll be getting round to more as part of the Justice League Detroit thing in Bits, assuming it doesn't come up elsewhere first.

Thoth, your Justice League Detroit thread is one of several Bits threads I keep meaning to catch up on. Sorry I haven't commented yet.

Must make my shameless plugs more subtle Not a problem. It's just a bit of fun tweaking the Conway plots. I'm enjoying looking behind the scenes of the DC titles of the time just as much. I got a pile of DC books last year. Things like Green Lantern by Wein and Gibbons that I hadn't read before and Blue Devil. E-Bay also provided me with some Amazing Heroes mags from the time.

That was the run that made me a Green Lantern fan!

Re COIE, I do enjoy rereading it. But there were a lot of unnecessary scenes, like the ones that tied into other books. Amethyst being blinded, Blue Devil meeting the Omega Men, Starfire and company going to Tamaran...
