Yes, and that makes Olan Soule the only voice actor besides Danny Dark (Superman) and Casey Kasem (Robin) to be in every version of Super Friends.

John Kassir was the voice actor behind the Crypt Keeper on Tales From the Crypt.

He was a great horror host and TFTC stands out as one of the best shows of the 90s in my opinion.

I think when Adam West took over the role, it was the first time I recognized a voice actor's voice.

When the 1989 movie with Michael Keaton came out, its dark tone surprised a lot of people whose only Batman exposure had been through the Adam West/Burt Ward series.

I think both the 1989 movie and the 1960s TV series went too far to their respective extremes.

I agree, Fanfie . To me, a good Batman movie has yet to be made because nobody knows how to hit the right level of camp and serious drama (i.e Bronze Age writing).

Certainly, making a superhero act too camp can take a lot of the depth out of a story.

Stalgie's right, the Bronze Age was one of the highest points of comic book writing. There have been a few writers since who have taken it to the next level, but they've been few and far between IMO.

Eh. From a prose standpoint, a lot of Bronze age stuff seems stiff and overly verbose by contemporary standards.
OTOH, neglecting dialogue and tone-setting in favor of endless splash-pages (which seems to be the current tradition in mainstream comics) doesn't do much for me, either.
It's as if Marvel and DC studied the worldwide popularity of Manga and learned all the wrong things about its success, instead of the right things. (Comics for all types of readers instead of just hardcore, lifelong fans, and so on.)

Good point well taken, Cleome.
The Direct Market may have saved comics in the short term, but I think it killed comics in the long term.

Ah, manga and anime.
One thing I find silly about many anime series? Endless narration, slow motion shots, it can take one whole episode for a character to use his or her "special ultimate technique". And this is accompanied by up to a dozen supporting characters standing around and commenting on the character's every move and his motivation. Exposition hell!

That was always one of the aspects of Dragon Ball Z that fans loved to make fun of!

There's not much anime I like, but I really like the few I do. I don't have loads of Bronze age comics really. I might be a little like Cleome. When I read them at all they seemed dated. They may have been "Relevant" trendsetters at the time, but they seemed a bit awkward and Cleome's "verbose" is about right for me too. Of course, I could look at them now an they'd probably be miles ahead of the material the Big 2 have been putting out for years.

I've never warmed up to anime. Those great big eyes creep me out. It's too much like Margaret Keane paintings.

Yeah. Even human characters from anime set in Japan often don't look Japanese.

I think the fact that for many years, the only anime I ever saw was poorly dubbed into English, with all the characters speaking very quickly in run-on sentences, didn't help.
