This issues dialogue read less "true" for me that the stilted hipness of a late '60s Teen Titans comic.
I was really unhappy with this issue, but maybe that's because, until now, I was ready to call the threeboot Legion the best version of the team ever. Now, well, the jury has been sequestered for a recount. [/QB] Well Portfolio Boy those are the complaints I've had all series. The teen dialogue seems forced. But I think the fight had real emotion despite some of the teeny stuff. I agreed with the cover description Family Feud.

I have always rationalized it as a product of them living so far in the future. Manners, the way people relate to each other, etc., have changed drastically from just a few generations ago. Add a thousand years...things will be different. Out of all the comics out there, Legion is the one that really has a great excuse if something seems stilted or sounds unnatural to modern ears. Culture shock, man. And really, that's the way I've always liked it.

And really, that's the way I've always liked it. [/b]Yeah I can see that "but" it's way too normal. I've used the Swing music example before. it came back in the 90s...and while the music was the same the kids were certainly not. Watching kids dress like their dancing grandparents was fun...but most of the kids had tatoos, piercings, and it just looked different. I don't mind they want to act like 1950s white america...but darn it make it more warped!  More (forgive the word) "altenative". doh! But I don't want to complain about that. This was a goood issue.

Also liked the "I hate pirates" comment. But I actually liked the pirates. They looked cool.
I liked the veil Princess Projecta wore. Also reminded me of her Sensor Girl days. Infact I think a veil would fit the character and make her more unique on the team. Also add some *flava*.

Could the lack of knowledge some members have of others in the group be down to Lemnos? Is it possible, Atom Girl has been in every panel of the run, but the readers are affected by Lemnos?

I really enjoyed this issue (picked it up yesterday).
Sharpe's (sic?) art was fine. If we hadn't had Barry, I would have said it was almost great. Barry does spoil us. I loved the climactic gasp by Cosmic Boy in the last panel. Reminded me pleasantly of Neal Adams/Jim Aparo melodramatic covers of the late 60s/early 70s.
I didn't find the dialogue in this issue to be either too "teen" or "pseudo-teen." A better word for it might be adolescent, not in the actual dialogue (which is quite eloquent for people of any age) but the intensity of emotion expressed and the self-centered viewpoint of virtually every character. I find that rather realistic and entertaining.
I am concerned about the EXTREMELY slow pace of plot. It doesn't feel stretched out, in the way some contemporary comics are, since the story is still at a high simmer as opposed to a rapid boil. It's the length of the simmer that I worry about. The character-driven interaction is awesome, but this book is taking a long time to get anywhere and not delivering very much action per issue. It really is a different kind of comic book.
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

I was really happy to see Cosmic Boy form a magnetic force-shield after Ultra Boy attacked him, just like Magneto can in Marvel Comics. I love it when Legionairres' powers are used to their fullest, so I'm hoping that we'll also see him flying on magnetic lines and lifting people by the iron in their blood sometime soon, too.
If the meek shall inherit inherit the Earth, then I at least want Baffin Island - and a property manager to work for me who is made of sterner stuff than I.

I read Supreme Power, which has taken time to develop the characters, the world, etc. however, unlike LSH, this book comes every now and then. after just over two years on the market is only on issue 17!. that's a slow pace. and don't even get me started on Queen & Country!
