By the way, does anyone else find it interesting how much time Element Lad and Phantom Girl spend together? First time we see them Phantom girl is providing dating tips from a batman comic, in this issue they are hanging out watching Angel (I wonder if it's the public domain by then). Just friends or will there be a transmutation into something else? Interesting thought. Maybe Element Lad sees something in PG that others miss. But I do wonder what will happen if Projectra gets Sensor Girl-style powers. If she can "see through the illusions of the world" she might just be able to connect with PG on a different level than anyone else. It could make for a great friendship.

I agree. Sure, he's not my favorite artist, but he's nowhere near the worst I've seen. It looked like decent stuff to me.

Garth wasn't a runaway preboot, but his reason for leaving home was the same in both histories, i.e., to look for his brother Mekt. Maybe this time around, Mekt is looking for him and that's why he's trying to fake another identity.
It would be a gas if Mekt became a member of Terror Firma.

I don't know, it might be nice to see a civilan (for lack of a better word) for a few issues before he goes bad.

The reboot, while very different than preboot in some ways, followed a lot of the same basics, making some things seem inevitable (but still fun). But now, weve seen some things that make it obvious that in the threeboot, you can't take anything for granted. Both approaches have their appeal for me.

good call. and when looking at that page again it seems lava lamps are still around.[/b]Actually that looks to me more like a monitor to the group kids outside the clubhouse and maybe they heard the announcement too. Unless there is an episode of Angel where all the actors appear to be looking right at the screen.

Hi Barry.
My condolences on your losses.
So glad you'll be back for all of 10. Being an artist myself, art plays a huge role in how much I enjoy a comic.
I recognize there are different styles, and not all of them will be to my liking. However, I just didn't feel the crew who worked on issue 8 were a good choice to handle this book.

Right I've caught up on my sleep so can now string a coherent sentence together (hopefully ) I quite liked the art, not as refined as Barry's but still readable, the faces were a bit hit or miss, though the look on Brainy's face when Cos spoke to him at the start was great! You can see how contained his anger is - scary! Sun Boy looked delicious throughout too, and the look on Cos' face at the end - the poor dear, he didn't have a good day did he? I liked the pirates at the start though wondered if the kids are Legion wannabes why a couple of them wouldn't put up more of a fight, surely Gormox wouldn't be able to walk through the crowd without more resistence. Still he looked good. Element Lads "it'll only hurt for a minute" comment was a beaut - I wonder if Legionnaires are given special dispensation from the powers that be that they can maim like that, or did this happen outside of UP jurisdiction? Either way "I hate pirates" was a great line! Funny how Invisible Kid was shown on the roll call page but wasn't seen anywhere in the story - what's his game? I think he's a spy. Lightning Lad is still a 'livewire' then, zapping the SP was not perhaps the best way of dealing with them, though made up for it with his line to Lon Norg about remembering his promotion. So, what has Projectra gained? Anger? A motivation to be more than a pampered princess? Spirit guides? I'm looking forward to seeing more of her. Brainy is wonderfully machiavelian isn't he? What a fantastic character! When I read Cos' "total communication between all Legionnaires" comment I knew Brainy would turn that against him, and he didn't let me down. Poor Cosmic Boy cracking under the strain when Sun Boy quit was wonderfully played. I feel sorry for him, he's so out of hisdepth but trying hard to make it right. The one problem I had with it was calling Ultra Boy a "Jerkwit" ooooh like so offensive - not! Come on Wacker, you allow Cos to say "bastard" later on, wouldn't calling UB an irrsponsible B****** be more offensive? And what was with UB having brown arms? Not a good look unless you're a vet I imagine. EL's "psuedointellectual?" comment was perfect - he's another fairly self contained character so these little peeks into his mindset are great, and the few words he says always work well. UBs anger at Cos and "everybody hates you when you talk like that" were quite telling - and I didn't like Saturn girl getting LL to zap him - turning off his strength was one thing but then getting another legionnaire to use their powers on him was over the top IMO. The fight worked well as we heard the leginnaires points of view as they slugged it out - Shady's crack to Star boy that he is Cos' apologist was brutal - mee-ow! I didn't read it that Micro Lad was attacking Dreamy though, to me it looked that this was him climbing back in the HQ in an understandable rage. Sun Boy would easily take eL in this incarnation IMO though. And what exactly is Alyadoing? It looks like she's dancing or something equally useless - this is the one part of the splash page that annoyed me, another being Shady countering LL's lightning - not likely unless her powers are more energy negation that darkness projection - we need an update on her I think. Another classic telling line was Brainy to Cos - "you did your best, but I've always known you could get the legion only so far" - Ouch! And to follow that up with "I'm sorry" - ow!! Cos taking control of everyones flight rings was a great way to stop the fight - nice to see he was indiscriminate with it too, not just stopping the Brainy Bunch. The ending with Braal sealing it's borders was a treat - Waid wracked up the pressure on Cosmic Boy nicely with that - and the look on the poor boy's face was delightful. I enjoyed this issue greatly - loads of exsquisite character development and the team will probably split now. For a few issues anyway I don't want to have to wait another month for no. 10, but guess thats the price I pay for my addiction.
Legion Worlds NINE - wait, there's even more ongoing amazing adventures? Yup, and you'll only find them in the Bits o' Legionnaire Business Forum.

Oh NO! Now I'm imagining Florence Henderson as Dream Girl! ARGHHH!
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

Good one, Tamper Lad. Y'know what? Your montage would make for a good cover in its own right.
If the meek shall inherit inherit the Earth, then I at least want Baffin Island - and a property manager to work for me who is made of sterner stuff than I.

Excellent montage TL! It just needs a shadowy figure in the center box.

You know what? Get me Levitz. Let's pitch this one. The Brainy Bunch Brainy and Cos are neighbours in the 30th century suburbs... of space. Brainy and Dreamy live a quiet life in this suburban bungalow/split level. Until Cos and company move in next door and build this monster house (gaudy yellow and red, in the shape of a rocket ship) blocking out their afternoon sun. Monthly hilarity ensues. Well maybe if Levitz, Didio and Wacker went completely insane they'll accept my pitch. They can pull a Jemas and fire Waid for not going along with it. I can hear the internet splitting in two already.

I can see it now -- Garth and Ayla move into the attic and start to have a little more than sibling affection for one another...
The housekeeper Marla will admit to being a man who takes profem (much to Jan the Butcher's dismay, confusion then eventual acceptance).
A certain super-pet gets retconned out of existence and is never mentioned again.
And then annoying cousin Spiffany moves in and it's downhill from there...

heck he's carrying the series! Barry's work is great, no question about it. But I'd hardly say that the artwork is what's carrying the series. This has been the best LSH storyline we've seen in a long, long time. A couple of other people have already mentioned that they find the characters to be real and I couldn't agree more. All of you Waid-haters really need to stop and give a little credit where credit is due. Also, GOD FORBID that teenagers and twenty-somethings act like young kids and disagree on things!!! Here's what I took from it:Another great story, action, character development, and more cliffhangers that leave me wanting to read the next issue. Cheers to the dev team for giving me my money's worth! That's what good comics are all about. Hope to see you back at the pencils again soon, Barry.
